Last October, eBay introduced a new "Safe Payments Policy" that prohibits sellers from requesting payment through online-payment services not specifically approved by eBay.
With Google expected to launch its long-awaited payment service GBuy today (Wednesday), it seems unlikely eBay will allow merchants to advertise the service in listings, at least in the short term.
eBay spokesperson Hani Durzy said the Safe Payments Policy allows eBay to evaluate new payment services to determine if they are appropriate for the eBay marketplace. Until eBay has evaluated and approved a new payment service, it wouldn't be allowed.
He indicated that eBay has been evaluating payment services in recent months, but could not comment on which, if any, new services eBay was planning to add to its list of acceptable payment services.

I don't have a link either. The way I got to it was to list an item in Gbase and then sign up for it.

Not sure if this is in beta at this time or not :shock:

nopaypal, that's wierd! You do have a Google account or you couldn't list. I'm trying to remember for sure, but it seemed to be where it asked payment types and like a question about whether you want to use GBuy or something and to create an account. I had to wait a couple of days to verify a small deposit before it became active. Did you already have a Froogle account before or did you just go in "fresh". Could that be it?
Perplexing. They should be coming forth with some real info today. |

Possibly in the beginning eBay MAY be able to ban gpay using that historical issue. But I think if they don't allow it after about 6 mts tops, eBay could have a restraint of trade issue on their hands. And Google would have the money and lawyers to push it if they wanted to.

i see they finally announced today. however, there's a list of what products are acceptable to buy with GC...& the link to it is a 404 error!!!

| You know, I listed a couple of items on Google Base, was sent to sign up for Gbuy, was sent a small deposit, and then somehow deleted the instructions on what to do next :!: :!: So now I'm in limbo :evil: |
