Man oh man. I would have more respect if ebay would just come right out and say "we're big enough we don't care if our users think we're all anal retentive heartless money-inhaling slobs".
The Animal Board community group is a pretty good-sized group of ebay users. We're involved in getting animal welfare stories out to one another, posting of desperate animals in need of rescue and doing whatever we can to save lives and educate others. We are ALSO buyers and sellers on ebay. Due to a small handfull of posters that are bored and stirring up the pot; and due to ebay being too lazy and self-important to investigate the problem, ebay is cracking down on the AB, tying our hands and gagging us if we want to use their precious board for animal interests.
Thank goodness we have other places to go, both for our work and animal interests, and for buying and selling. Yes, I know most of us will be back, but I appreciate the opportunity to rant at yet another display of ebay's self-indulgence. Goodnight.

Hi Hound,

We just adopted a puppy that was really sick. He has pneumonia and kennel cough. It is horrible to hear him cough all night long. This puppy probably would have passed if we hadn't adopted him. We don't deal with Ebay anymore due to the same reasons most of you won't in the future. It is disgusting to pick on a message board that is as innocent as the one I just visited. That's Ebay for you though!

They were doing this back when a lady named Georgia was trying to locate her kitties after Katrina. It's really sad. Welcome to PSU!

Thank you very much Hound. We have moved on from Ebay and now all of a sudden our website is doing business! I find it funny that as soon as our ebay store is closed, we are getting purchases. We should have closed it 6 months ago!

Thanks for the welcome, Beckys. I understand some of the user policies in place over there, but I think the good needs to be taken into consideration. Ebay has reaped positive PR from the works of the Animal Board for quite awhile, and this is how they thank those who have been there so long and done so much good? Not cool.

It is good you have a place to go to vent your frustration with ebay.
Keep up the good work and let us know if you make the big time news papers or TV. Their stock keeps going down makes me wonder if the nit pic is has something to do with it.

pinecone, that's quite a family! I believe there will be rewards for those who take the "throwaway animals" of others and give them a life worth living...thanks!

It's a shame that the policies are sudenly being enforced without warning? Is that what has happened? There have been some good rescues off that board and transportation arranged for animals.

Cheer up Pinecone- you have lovely fresh eggs to cook with! There are things I do miss about not living on a farm anymore- lol, I used to like watching my chickens, and the eggs as well.

memfoam, poor puppy! as bad as kennel cough sounds, my breeder says it's similar to a cold, so it's usually best to let it go away by itself. i found this info:

"Treatment is generally limited to symptomatic relief of the coughing with non-prescription, and occasionally prescription, cough suppressants. If the dog is running a fever or there seems to be a persistent and severe cough, antibiotics are occasionally utilized to assist the dog in recovering from Kennel Cough. It can happen that secondary bacterial invaders will complicate a case of Kennel Cough and prolong the recovery and severely affect the upper airway. Therefore the use of antibiotics is determined on an individual basis."

gee, i didnt know there was cough syrup for dogs! take it to the vet if it seems to be getting worse.

good luck with the little guy/grrl.

:D

Thanks nopaypal for the info. We have to give him medication for the pneumonia, but the kennel cough seems to be settling on its own. We named him Prince and he is happy as could be.

BTW - PAYPAL AND EBAY SUCK!!!!

Hi HoundLover,

Sorry to hear you had so much grief with your animal list over at ebay.

You may want to consider posting some of your animal concerns/stories on the Wellpet list if you haven't already done so. They have a wonderful mailing list with people very willing to help. The website is also a goldmine for anyone interest in natural health, vaccines, natural feeding etc for animals.

Hoochie - Male Mastiff/German Shepherd

Whisper - mixed breed female cat from shelter

Perhaps you could petition/ask for an animal welfare board of some kind so that these things could have the correct place to be discussed. I venture to say that once you all stop posting on the AB, there won't much need for it anymore. That should open some eyes.

Hi all, want to invite anyone interested in linking up with many of us ABers to visit at http://www.911petrescue.com/beta/index.php It's not limited to ebay boardies at all, just a group of animal lovers that want to stay connected. There's a good group of people there already (day 2) with fantastic resources so please save the link for reference or come visit!
Thanks for the other resource, riverwood! If you don't mind I'll include that over at 911 as another resource?
Beckys, actually there is speculation by some that ebay would just as soon be rid of animal lovers/activists so they can try again to popularize the idea of live animal sales on the US ebay, but that is speculation only as far as I can tell.
