I never list on days that ebay runs listing specials; it just isn't worth my time.

Do you really think people will pay for those upgrades even at 50% off if they aren't selling anything to begin with?? I can only see sellers that have been making a profit using them.

Ebay can't get me budge. Proud to say I haven't even tried to sell at the site since last November and don't see a reason to. I'll spend my effort and my limited bucks promoting my stores on other sites. Except when I absolutely have to buy something I can only find at Ebay it is pretty much dead to me on all counts.

Then I look at all the bad news coming out about this company and I also say why bother? What is eBay really going to do for me or my business? Nothing. I would still have to promote my listings and my store there the same as I do now for the other sites I'm on.

I agree with CrystalStar. Why would you do this unless you're already a seller actively selling a decent amount and making a profit. The more I'm on alternates, especially some of the more new, innovative and motivated sites, I go back to eBay and it's no big deal anymore. I buy on eBay only as a last resort.

When I buy I want sellers to get maximum bucks for their listings, so I shop the alternatives first.

I too rarely list on ebay this time of year due ot the fact millions of online shoppers are on vacation to see Disney, Grandma, the Grand Canyon, etc~~~

Did prowl on over there today and was shocked at a few of the catagories I normally list among and noticed only a few items were listed at this time
Normally you'd see over 2500 items listed in certain cats and at this time it's only around 25

Most ebay sellers I've talked to lately have stated their sales are way down right now, but hopeful when kids start back to school

I'll start back over there in the early Fall just to test the traffic

Nope - these 'types' of listing sales don't even affect my plan for the day...Now - 5 and 10 cent listing sales, maybe - depending upon the original plan. However, even when these 'occur', then your items can't and won't be seen unless you price them at 1 cent (can ya go below?)

I find subtitle to be of use to distinguish my best item ,the other options are not worth it at all.

As for "Homepage" feature ,if I could sell items for profits that warrant it , I would not be listing on eBay in the first place :P

Am I mistaken or did it use to be that the words in the subtitle were searchable also without clicking on the "search titles and descriptions"?

I am  to say that I suckered into a subtitle yesterday and none of my sub keywords bring up my listing in the plain search. Lesson noted and learned!

Becky,
Subtitles have never been searchable unless you include descriptions.

That's always been alot of sellers complaints. Pay 50 cents more for more "title" that is only searchable through descriptions. Waste of money most the time.

Well it depends on how you use the subtitle and what you use the subtitle on.

Yes ,to load it with a bunch of search words won't help and a total waste also to use it during a promotion of course won't help. You want to use it when the hordes are not using it

Don't worry won't be many converts after the promotion

I consider it one of the best and last features after gallery as you can make alot out of it and tailor it to your best advantage.

Use it for your best items....or if you list alot of low value auctions may want to fly a couple of subtitle auctions a month to hook more clients.

Since you are still around on eBay and able to be a Powerseller during these lean and mean times when most are on a race to a bottom then you must have "a hook" or "advantage" over other sellers already.

Perhaps you have best customer service ,or offer free shipping ,maybe don't use stock photo's and actual item for auction is actual item.Whatever your advantage is to flag down that extra bidder let them know.

Remember you are providing a better service then the other guy and you are helping your client by flagging him down as he trawls with blurred eyes through the endless list of wannabe's!!!

Subtitle can also work in counter intuitive to our hard won skill of search words , for example "free shipping" or "Discount" or "NOS" or "Free Pickup in Batenrouge!" is rarely a good use of valuable search term space. Yet on a subtitle its another story

Another good use of subtitle is as a billboard or vanguard listing for your service or line of products.Maybe you just stock your eBay store , and have very few items up for auction ,may have a loss leader that you know will generate a frenzy of interest but perhaps not profit everytime.you throw out there for 1 cent to generate traffic to your store. Thats a great time to use subtitle & gallery.

The use of subtitle should be part of your strategy (whatever that is) , to better promote your advantage or draw attention to a great item ,service or feature.

Most of us have to use it very sparingly....then again if you are selling luxury condo's on Namibian coast then use of subtitle on every listings would be more then a good idea :!:
