It has been clear to investors for some time that eBay Inc. has been losing the luster that turned the online auctioneer into an e-commerce bellwether.
Now, CEO Meg Whitman is finally acknowledging things have been off kilter and is hoping to set things right by raising fees on the online stores that had been diverting traffic from eBay's auctions.
Now....the rest of the story... |

"Whenever we do a fee increase, our community doesn't like it, but I think they will understand the reasons why we are doing this," Whitman said.

Many stores were opened because of the fee increases for auctions, did Meggie-pie forget that? Reading the eBay Stores board last night, I see that alot of store sellers are planning a move to St Elsewhere more seriously now than before---their own stores, not other auction sites.
But giving the world the impression that we'll more or less "get over the fee increases?"

I needed the additional motivation to finish my store!

| I just don't understand why they are kicking store owners in the teeth. Are they that stupid to think that it will drive them to do more auctions which will cost more money? It wasn't enough to take the store items out of the search? They might as well just do away with stores completely...is that next? I'm glad I never had a good reason to have a store in the first place. |

I don't know which is more annoying.....
The stupidity of Meggie and her minions which tips into
the realm of the criminally moronic......
Or the fact that they *actually* think people are going
to buy this crap they're trying to pass off as a rationale
for their money grubbing ways.
Personally, I'd be just fine if they'd come right out and
say "We're a bunch of greedy bastards and you'll tow
the line because we say so and we've got the market in
our pocket"
OH.... but what am I thinking?!?!? This is Ebay where
honesty - even brutally honest truth is a foreign concept. |

I think it's funny that the Google ad at the top of this page that I see right now is for "Reputation Management".
Boy, does eBay need that company right now, LOL!!!!!!

Ebay is showing the public a "net" income of over $1.4 BILLION in the second quarter of this year alone--Which is a 30% increase OVER last year
http://www.powersellersunite.com/viewtopic.php?p=58737#58737
This is why they can increase fees at their mere greedy pleasure due to the fact there's no other serious competetion out there at this time :( |

I think for most of us, the only time our income may have increased this year was during the short time that stores were in search.
eBay's record profits have all come at our expense.
Both before and after SIS, I couldn't hardly give stuff away thru eBay.

that way QUICKLY!! Geez!! The little guy is getting trampled and the big greedy jerks buy bigger islands or what ever they do.. us handicapped people (online) trying NOT to take help are done for now... :( NO pay pal hummno ebay!! :D

| After reading the entire article from the first post, I find it funny that no one mentioned this lil titbit in this topic: By deliberately tanking their own stock they intend to buy it back! |
