Now we know why Meg cares little about ebay. She's been looking for a new job:

Can you imagine? According to Forbes she's the most hated CEO every month and Disney wanted to put her in charge of little children.

Makes one wonder if she really took herself out of contention or if its just spin. I go with spin.

The new head of Disney has been announced today. It makes me wonder whether Disney didn't inform her ahead of time so that she could withdraw with a little dignity.

From a Motley Fool afticle this morning: http://www.fool.com/News/mft/2005/mft05031401.htm?source=mpmftlist

"...Indeed, staying at eBay may be the riskier thing for Whitman to do.

Why? Well, because there are more than a few signs indicating that eBay's high-growth days are a thing of the past. This year, the company is looking to grow earnings per share by no more than 24%. The world's leading auctioneer is also showing symptoms of vulnerability. It recently had to scale back a recent fee hike, and it seems to be offering cut-rate listing promotions at a feverish pace these days. Rule Breakers newsletter recommendation Overstock.com (Nasdaq: OSTK) is also promoting its new auction offerings aggressively, and that's something that others like Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) and Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) never did."

Uncertainty About EBay CEO Adds To Negative Sentiment

Standard & Poor's Equity Research reiterated a "hold" rating on eBay (nasdaq: EBAY - news - people ) after a report that Chief Executive Meg Whitman had interviewed to head The Walt Disney Co. (nyse: DIS - news - people ) but withdrew her candidacy. S&P Equity Research said, "Although we do not believe Whitman is actively pursuing departure from eBay at this point, we think new questions and uncertainty about her long-term future with the company will add to the negative sentiment we see swirling around the auction firm."

Disney's CEO Search Bodes Ill for eBay

By James Cramer

https://secure2.thestreet.com/cap/login/rm_mbp_yahoosoft.jsp?cm_ven=YAHOO&cm_cat=PREMIUM&cm_ite=003190&flowid=2017621567&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thestreet.com%2Fp%2F_yahoo%2Frmoney%2Fjamesjcramer%2F10212920.html

About this article:
Now that Disney has a new CEO, we've learned that eBay leader Meg Whitman was trying for Eisner's spot for a while. James J. Cramer believes that her possible departure to a similar-sized company says that perhaps she doesn't believe eBay should be a $50 billion company. Take your cues here: eBay has lost its luster.

Here is the complete text of eBay Chief Executive Meg Whitman's e-mail to company employees explaining her decision to stay at the online auction company's helm:

Hello everyone:

You may have read news reports on the overture The Walt Disney Company made to me to be their CEO. I thought I'd take a moment to explain those reports.

A few weeks ago, the firm handling Disney's search contacted me to see if I would be interested in the Disney job. As some of you know, I worked at Disney earlier in my career, and I have a fond spot in my heart for the company. It's quite possibly the only other company I would ever think of running after eBay. So, I asked the recruiter for more information and agreed to meet with Disney's board a week ago. On Friday afternoon, I withdrew my name from consideration, because, in the end, I reaffirmed my belief that working at eBay is indeed the best job for me.

eBay is a marvelous company that has been extremely good to me. My past 7 years at eBay have been a fabulous adventure, both personally and professionally. I owe eBay, its community and all of you an awful lot. But perhaps even more important, I believe eBay has a remarkable future ahead of it. Everywhere I turn to look, whether it's our North American business, International, PayPal or New Ventures, I see tremendous opportunity. Great things remain to be done, and I very much want to be a part of that future.

Thank you very much for your understanding. And thank you for everything you do for eBay and our users every single day.

As always, I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. Please feel free to e-mail me.

Regards,

Meg

spin, spin, spin

I am sure money played NO part in her considersation.

In fact, I would have no problem with money part. What I have problems with is the spin people put on events.

I, for one, value honesty. Don't treat me like an idiot.

AuctionBytes Article: Speculation Continues over eBay CEO Career Contemplation

http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y05/m03/i16/s02

"The fallout from February price increases and the 2004 financials, reported in January, continue to haunt eBay. Some media reports indicated the news about Whitman would not have been so dramatic had eBay not been, in the words of one analyst, "plagued with so much uncertainty at this point." "

Now read between the lines.

"Hey you fools, you know all those stupid enhancements and stuff we
created for the feebay cite in the last year?
Well, I know what I'm doing. You see another auction company approached me last year and wants me real bad and well, when I go I have to make sure that feebay is falling flat on it's back so that when I start my new job. The stocks will soar O verthere. Hey I'm not stupid and I want more money
so I've been working hard to sabotage feebay for quite some time now lol."

Now I wonder what other emerging competitor / company would
want Meg to help boosts it's stock prices so they can be number one?

And the cycle starts all over again.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Well, deco333 I'm not the kind of person that likes to show off  ! I told my PR people to just be quiet about this. And who needs more money anyway, that's why I'm selling online  !
And on the last comment, that move just bit her in the behind now didn't it!! I would invest in a good pair of steel tipped boots to kick her wide A*s
Hehehee talk to you all later, I just got another offer to take over Trumps job  .
