My webstore is very near to going live and besides working out the 6 million kinks that goes with that, I was wondering if going with an SSL certificate was a no brainer.

The credit card processing will be done with PayPal, but I'm using zencart and still will require people to register to buy. My hunch is to get the GoDaddy Turbo Cert, just to reassure customers that I'm safe.

Is my hunch right?

If you are doing all your credit card processing with paypal then you can probably get away without SSL on your site since paypal uses SSL

bub...I did what you did.

I use Paypal for my shopping cart & all data is handed over to Paypal for processing.

However user registration is on my site & I want users to have a sense of comfort, knowing that their user information is safe. There is no other user information stored on my site other than name and email address, but I still want them to feel safe. I went ahead and got the SSL anyway.

I haven't got it to display correctly yet, what's that you say about 6 million kinks? LOL There's that many items on my 'to do list'!!!
It was a great deal anyway, godaddy gave me the cert for free when I bought something or other. LOL

That's my opinion.

let me save you about 10 emails a day.. get ssl.. what will happen is that customers will not see the little lock on ie because you do not have ssl on your site.. which is what every book for dummies says is the only time they are secure..

so you will get paranoid buyers not buying because they think your site is not secure.

been down this road..
