How secure are these websites?

I noticed that some of the auction/store sites being recommended here are not using HTTPS for sign in.

I'm not comfortable puting all my information on a site that doesn't add this extra layer of security.

Am I needlessly worrying? Exactly how much more secure is HTTPS over HTTP?

I'm not extremely 'savvy' with how security works every place, but I'd say - yes --- you need to at a minimum inquire and yes - be concerned!! :D :D
