Hi everyone,

I've spent a lot of time researching IXWebHosting.com in the last few days because they've received a great review and named #1 on the HostingChart.com. They have really great plan prices starting at $3.95/yr for the basic plan, and $6.45/mo. for a Business Plan w/ oscommerce shopping cart - but to get the low rate you have to sign up for 24 mo. of service at one time.

My question/problem is:

Their promo says "The domain registration is free of charge for as long as you host with us." However, when I went to sign up and register for my free domain, because I wanted to sign up for 24 mo., I thought it would be logical to choose 2 years for my domain registration. When I went to "Order", they wanted to charge me $19.95 for the 2nd year's registration and said that the 1st year registration is Free.

This didn't sound right to me after hearing this "The domain registration is free of charge for as long as you host with us." several times from their website as well as customer service reps so I did a live chat to get to the bottom of it. The rep told me then that you get a Free Domain Registration Credit once a year and that you won't get charged if you go to your control panel and renew your domain next year.

Anyways, to make a long story short, has anyone here ever had experience with IXWebHosting and their Domain Registration/Renewal thing? Is it true that you won't get charged for your renewal next year?

I wouldn't put total faith into HostingChart.com yet. That site seems pretty new since they have a google page rank of 0 which means that it isn't a very known site.

I have not tried IXWebHosting so I can't comment on there service. But hearing that they want to charge 19.95 for the 2nd year registration is ridiculous and would want me to stay away. You can get a domain for less then half of that price. Also when they say "The domain registration is free of charge for as long as you host with us." makes me think that if you don't like their service and leave or move to another host they still own your domain. A domain is very important it is like property when you purchase one you need to make sure you OWN it. That way you can keep it forever if you choose and move it around to different servers and hosts.

I also don't want to sound like I am always promoting this but we have hosting on this site with oscommerce shopping cart for $99.99 a year. Not as cheap as 6.45 but it comes to 8.33 a month. see http://www.powersellersunite.com/hostingsignup.php

Oh, oops. It was TheHostingChart.com and not HostingChart.com - typo. Sorry about that, but I am already shopping around for my own domain name ...

Does anyone know if I register my domain name with GoDaddy.com is it my own or theirs?
