When I go to the ebay singapore site (ebay.com.sg) I get a weird popup window... "Been to eBay USA? Discover the advantages of your local site!" I just find it kind of odd. I haven't ever noticed this window before on foreign sites, is it a new thing?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On a side note: Advantages my arse! Like what, paying 150-500% higher fees? Like what, having my store listings not show up in search results? Like what, paying more for less exposure? Loosing money on stores? Once again, my arse!! I wish I could charge millions of people .3 cents a month to host each of their web pages with only ONE image. Especially if I owned the servers. They have told so many lies, they are loosing track. |

I tried, but I didn't get the popup. But I've already signed up for a Singapore store so maybe they don't care about my computer going there. To get your stuff to show up there, you need to say that you'll ship to worldwide or at least come country that's near that area.
Anyway, I saw the Singapore site & it looks pretty empty. Not many sellers there. But if you list under SG, then your prices are in Singapore currency. No PayPal yet either (supposed to be soon). |

| Upon thinking some more, I have decided NOT to sign up with eBay Singapore. Why? eBay is not dumb. They will see Americans signing up and change the rules in Singapore to reject Americans from listing there. They know what people are trying to do. I won't waste my time setting up there to be shut down in a few weeks. |

No reason to be that paranoid  ,not yet anyway. :P
Ebay has had for years an annoying tactic to redirect buyers to domestc eBay sites
They are so upset at Canadians wandering the globe hehe!
Canadians tend to list AND buy on foreign eBay sites ,and every now and again we get spammed by that pop-up.No matter how many times tell pop-up to buzz off the cookie expires and it comes back.
No its not a new thing
No its not big brother , it eBay being a traffic nanny with a poorly thought out interface ,just another poor tactic. |

i have a popup blocker. :) i also took a look at ebay canada several years ago, & liked that site a lot better. but frankly, there was about as much traffic as any of the smaller auction sites...i.e., hardly any.
