Ebay Fees Up ... Gas Up ... Available Products Up ... Store Search Engine Down ... Buyers Down ... Nothing like restructuring ... Not sure were I am headed, but one this for sure getting tire of being burnt by FeeBay and Pay-me-Pal. Going to have to depend on more sales from my web site. I still using Overstock, looking at Online Auction. And Going to do alot of Praying for guidenance. So much for retirement.

Join the crowd or should I say the masses 8)

This upcoming holiday shopping season will be rather interesting to watch. Will the sellers return to ebay for it's traffic or just tough it out at some of these small alternative online selling venues

Stay tuned folks!

kygary I couldn't agree with you more about praying for guidance. There are many choices, too many!! I don't know about other posters but I don't go strictly by stats. I look at how much effort has gone into a site, which isn't too hard to see, even for me. I look at how user friendly it is, do emails get answered in a timely fashion, is the site visually pleasing, are the listings pages of sleezy lingerie and junk. If the site has good quality I feel the people will start moving over there wether the stats are there or not. And many are too new. JUst want to say I agree with you on the guidance issue.

Hey, at least you sold that cute little gargoyle  He arrived and I left feedback.

Ebay is back down to pre-listing special numbers, 12 million and change

we have been off of ebay for a few months.. a few factors really made us drop ebay. we dumped paypal back in feb and selling on ebay without taking paypal is a waste of time. considering ebay is marketing to buyers that if the seller does not accept paypal then they will probably rip you off.

we have a website and are on a few other sites. 2 years ago ebay was our best online sales channel. that changed last year.

a few observations

- store sellers will basically be put out of business, even if they don't shut down now. remember last year's increase. put the number 1 seller on ebay out of business ( that and the horrible xmas season on ebay last year ). currently the top 3 store's on ebay will see their monthly invoice increase from 5,000 to 25,000 a month ( not including the fvf increase ).

the sell through rate on stores is much better then it was 2 years ago, but it is not good enough to cover that much of an increase. i don't care what your price point is.

- auctions on ebay are dying and have been. ask your customers, they are tired of auctions, especially when it comes to gift time.. days of the 500.00 tickle me elmo are gone. ironically ebay knows this, that is why they had to raise the rates on stores.. they are not trying to prune store listings.. just want to make more off of them. would they really start ebayexpress and then decided that there are not enough auctions, so lets kill stores?

one site where we have been doing well ( especially on new merchandise ) is amazon. and i predict amazon will benefit big from ebay's stupidity. book sellers will be the first off of ebay ( even ebay concedes that ).

buyers love amazon, because the shipping and handling is fixed, in their favor.. but they also pay more, complain less, and amazon does not encourge them at every opportunity to chargeback the transaction.

airborne82 - all your points are true. I don't have a 'buying website', but have several friends who took the plunge a while ago. With hard work, continous promotions and marketing - they're now making more money and having more sales between their off-ebaY site combined with one/two auction type sites.

There is 'life after ebaY'...for sure! :D
