The site included in my signature is driving me nuts! I checked out how quick it loads with some optimizer I found online, and am told it is a sloooowwww load! I believe this because my visitor paths show a good % of bounces from the homepage, not good.

HELP, someone help LOL! Coupla questions"

I tried optimizing some of the pix on my homepage to make them smaller. They look kind of washed out now (one is still missing mid-page, know that). What is the optimal pixel size for middle ground optimization (not the best quality, but not the worst).

Also, I am sooo clueless on CSS. If I can figure that out, will that help my pages load quicker? (The optimzer said so, but would like to hear it from the pros!) How do you differentiate between global and page settings in a CSS? Will this make a difference to the loading speed? I found a couple of CSS generators, but where the heck do I put the code once I have it, just stick it between the head tags - again, what about different codes for global and page settings?

Can someone(s) critque the navy header at the top of my pages? I put that together with Photoshop so I could get that rounded curve on the left side of the header. It look fab, but I got a new monitor yesterday, and on this monitor, I can clearly see it looks like a chop job, colors do not mesh well at all. Comment vous?

Finally, PSU....have hardly worked on the new site I got from you, have been putting so much energy into this one, argggh! Maybe it would be less hassle just to move this site over to PSU, too? I mainly want to keep my color branding and clean style, it runs throughout my store's history on a number of sites, my business cards, etc., would that be possible?

Any help anyone can give is greatly appreciated, thanks! Just sign me...

Loads up pretty fast for me. Uhm...the violet text kinda hurts tho. hehe

Why not set up your pages using the joomla side of the PSU store you got here? You wouldn't have to mess with all that.

Need help?

Wow, Sylvia, that's a gorgeous site you have, very professional looking! I agree on the violet font, it looked good on the old monitor, but it's way too bright on this one!

Yeah, I think that may be the easiest and most cost effective thing to do, move everything over to PSU. I know already you simply cannot beat the customer service here! 8)

I've only explored the PSU store and played with the Joomla template a little on the "other" site Mario Francisco's Golden-Chains.Com but I really do like it!

Thanks for the critique, Sylvia, and yes, I'm sure I'll be bugging lots for tips and help LOL!

Thanks for the sweetie words, Linda! The web site (Angelsolutions Boutique, middle banner) is made with Joomla, the same software PSU stores is using.

Be glad to help, just holler.

I could be that the images are taking a while to load. I noticed that you did some of the image resizing in html. Which means you have users download the full size image but the html shows it smaller. It will load faster if the image was smaller orginally. But I dont' think that is the main problem because your images are not large anyways. The problem could be insufficent sql querys to get to your database of products. Or even worse, your site might not even use a database. The information might be stored in text files that have to be pulled up. I am not sure what shopping cart script is used for your site. Also see if you can enable caching.

I am glad that you like the PSU Stores. All your products are stored in a fast mysql database and you CAN turn on caching for the site to make it faster.

I try to keep my jpgs at 125 x 125 for thumbnails on the shopping cart, 250 x 250 on the full view of the products. That has to be adjusted sometimes, but not by much, and I try to keep them under those sizes, not above.

Loading images on the other place is a real PIA, can't FTP 'em, and the loader is sloooow. I have noticed on PSU, loading with the browse and upload is a snap, really quick.

You are probably right, PSU, there is no way to clear cache on this site. Enough LOL! Is it the same price per month to host 2 sites on PSU? $9.99 each per month? How do I sign up a 2nd site?

I have a friend who wants me to set a site up for her, too, so probably will eventually have 3 sites up.

Why do they make the days so short??? LOL
