This is my first post and just found the boards from the seller forum on Ebay. I just shut down my ebay store and transferred it all to my new website. I still have a few more things to add but for the most part it's stocked pretty well. I have gotten a few sales and it's only 2 weeks old so I'm really optimistic.

I would love a critique from the pros and hope it's not too slow for dial-up users. Thanks so much.

Your site looks great. How did you get a google page rank of 3 already and sales? I am just curious because I've hade my website for 7 months and it has a PR of 2. I hope you don't mind me asking.
Thanks,
Holly |

Thanks so much for the kind words. I just worry about dial-up users the most. I feel like it's pretty plain but I hope it's easy to navigate which I was told it was. I just feel like I'm missing something but I guess I'm overanylzing it. I tend to do that. LOL!
Holly, well I did have my domain since Feb and used to have it forward to my ebay store so it had a PR of either 5 or 7. I think that really helped and since have shut down my ebay store (same name) so that also pushed the website ranking up once most of my ebay stuff fall off google and yahoo. I did submit my url this week so hoping it doesn't take long to crawl.
The sales well I'm not really sure about some of them but I did have over 6 sales this week so total shock to me! I did have someone in my group buy several things from me yesterday and woke up to a couple of sales and one lady found me on a link page but didn't say which page. She also sent me an invite to join a WAHM forum so that was really neat! :D |

The store looks good. I like it because its simple and has lots of products :D
I would say that having it forwarded to your ebay store for so long helped a lot with your PR especially since you sold a lot on ebay.
I think that you have made your sales because of networking and being in groups and forums. You must have great networking.
The reason I don't think you have made the sales from people finding you on the search engines yet is because your PR is only on your homepage. None of your product pages have a pagerank. I did a search for a few of your items on google I didn't find any pointed to your website. I did find a link that pointed to your ebay about me page though. I am sure this will all change soon since your store is new and the search engines have not crawled your site yet.
Congratulations from being free from ebay and good luck with your new store. |

Bonne:
Welcome to PSU! I use Firefox and high-speed cable, and your site loaded quickly for me! I like the look/feel of your site - it's clean, crisp and moving around was easy.
You've done a very nice job of organizing your site. Best of efforts with your sales and site - and like PSU said - happy for you that you're ebaY-free!  :psulove: |

Bonnie,
How do you forward your store/website to ebay? I do have a menu button linking to my ebay and blujay stores. Thanks for answering my previous questions.
Thanks,
Holly |

Thanks again. PSU very good points about the SE links. I agree none of those are indexed yet but I do have them all in Froogle that Presto sends automatically for me. I have sent out my url to google, yahoo and MSN so hoping they get indexed by the end of the month.
Yes I have been definitely circulating the WAHM/SAHM market. LOL! This is my main target audience so I have been swapping links with similar sites that are well known already, shopping directories, and Mom type forums as well. I am also very well known on the Children's Clothing board at ebay and get a lot support from those ladies as well have my own private group and belong to a couple more groups. So that is also helping to generate traffic. I got my dh to put my website banner on his My Space page and getting ready to get my own page. I did have a blog but I might reopen it as well.
I agree it's great to be free from ebay and have control over my own destiny. Luckily I don't depend on this income much (esp since hubby got a much better job recently) so I figured I can afford to step away and it's sink or swim! :D
I really appreciate the critique and pointers and will definitely be around. This is a great board and so glad I found it. |

Sorry Holly for answering you in my other post. I have domain thru Yahoo so there is a domain control panel and all I had to do was hit forward put in the link (I put in my referral link to get the 75% credit from ebay) and I used a masked forward so it wasn't obvious they were going to an ebay store instead of a website. Very easy and took less than an hour to go thru. HTH.
