I didnt' realize until today that the Track Packages tool hasn't been working.
http://www.powersellersunite.com/trackpackage.php

What this tool does is you can input a tracking number for UPS or USPS it will then create an RSS feed that you can use to track the package. It will also create a link that you can sent to your customer so they can track the package. When the package arrives you can have it notify you through email or PM.

I don't know how long it wasn't working for but its fixed now. Here is a screenshot of it in action also.

Hey there's a major SPAMmer in our midst, his post is right above mine. May I suggest you block his IP or entire CIDR block if he's persistent?

I tried the example tracking number given:
01038555749765106174
after checking that it is a valid number at USPS, and the only result I got was Error: RSS file not found...

I learned something verrrry interesting in the process - the USPS recycles confirmation numbers!
Try copying and pasting the above number here:
http://www.usps.com/shipping/trackandconfirm.htm

What was once delivered to Casa Grande in Aug of 2006 was again delivered to Brooklyn in Aug of 2009. Hmm - I wonder if the number reflects the month in some way...

Their idea of cost savings and of glowing green to match their DC stickers.

Is this feature available thru the USPS click & Ship? Or is this an Ebay only thingy?
Curious minds would like to know!

Delivery Confirmation numbers are available to track at the USPS.com website for anyone who has a valid confirmation number to input. It doesn't matter how you buy the delivery confirmation. Or are you asking if a link to tracking is available at click-and-ship and at eBay? That I'm not sure of. Also, Google (and probably other web searches) recognize tracking numbers and offer a link to the tracking info for USPS, UPS and FedEx, and possibly other companies as well.

p.s. (as I can't edit) - the above also applies to other tracking numbers the USPS provides, such as International Express Mail and the like. I also learned today they auto-track those bar codes that you see on some mail and report where it was last auto-sorted - this program is called by the acronym FAST if you want to search for more info about it.

PRG~
No, maybe I didn't make myself clear. Click/Ship has the Scan Form and you can indeed go onto the site to track. What I meant was the program shown above in first post. I like the layout, the way it works for the seller. Is this a program that is unique to Ebay, or is this a program that I can install and utilize outside of ebay? Is this a program that can be used independently or within a shopping cart (i.e. zen cart).
Sorry for being so vague!

Hi Juliartz,

If it works, it's completely independant of ebay - has nothing to do with it.

You plug in your tracking numbers and select the carrier. You need an RSS feed for the notification.

If you ship via paypal, clicking through from an ebay auction item that you've sold via "Print Shipping Label", then all of the information about the tracking is auto-filled out for you and listed along with the sold item - you can merely click on that tracking number and a javascript window opens up - it may not have any info for you, however.

If you ship via PayPal, the SCAN is submitted each time you ship. If you use click and ship, you're supposed to print a SCAN for your carrier to pick up for you and it gets done later and returned to you.

This is supposed to provide you with the info in transit, but YMMV.

The PSU tracking system is supposed to notify you via email or RSS when your packages are delivered. UPS would be pretty quick I would imagine, while USPS, as you already know if you've tried tracking packages shipped with them, might be a day or so out of sync for some reason.

FedEx is just as reliable as UPS, but I don't see it as a selection in the PSU tracking tool although it is listed in the text.

There's lots of tracking tools out there and yes, you can integrate this functionality with your website if you like.

The PSU tool, according to the description, is supposed to alert the recipient by email that their package has arrived.

That might not seem very bright at first thought, but then most packages are delivered during the day when people are at work and a great majority of people at work are watching their personal email accounts instead of doing their jobs so it actually is a pretty kewl feature to reduce productivity in the workplace even more, because once the buyer knows that their package is waiting for them when they get home they're even less inclined to do their work LOL!

So it simply tracks and notifies both the recipient and the shipper about the status of a shipment, regardless of which carrier you shipped it with (only UPS or USPS at the moment, apparently), and irrespective of how and what channel you sold it through.

The PSU tracking tool needs a much better description though, as people already don't understand how to implement its usage.

Ok, tallship, I seem to be "one of those people"...

I went to the page http://www.powersellersunite.com/trackpackage.php

I inputted the tracking number I gave above

I clicked submit

I got a reloaded page that said Error: RSS file not found

So... what RSS file is it looking for?

Note that the descriptions you gave above that seemed to be about using this tool sounded to me like features that are built-in to those sites these days. Am I missing something?

Well, that was odd. Wish I could fix it. I think I must have just clicked where I expected edit to be and didn't notice the [quote tags in the post reply screen. Think I'd better go make coffee. LOL!
