Here is a good example of how Ebay confused this
poor seller!
She/he not getting much comfort on Seller Central board :(
"Huge Error - Got the $0.10 email and listed the wrong things
bodyforegolf (81 ) View Listings | Report Aug-15-06 12:00 PDT
AHHHHHHHHH
So I got the .10 + free gallery email last night. I set all of my listings (several hundred) to list. I was so excited!
Then today, (after all of them are listed) I read the fine print that says these items had to have been a STORE item MOVED to fixed/auction???
What B.S!!
I would have NEVER listed these hundreds of items today, and CERTAINLY not with gallery!
What can I do? This is a potential thousands in losses thanks to this error " |

I'll bet this will not be the only seller that didn't read the fine print.
This sale may come back to bite e-bay in the ass.Could drive out more sellers when they get the bill.

No doubt, coastalgifts. It will drive more sellers out when they get the bill.
Jeesh, I never even considered that people would think it's another auction listing sale and straight list tons of inventory. Man, oh, man. And to have done that when so much competition is hitting the servers.
The end of September ain't gonna' be real pretty either. Accounting is bound to make a mega-mess out of refunding fees.
Whadda' disaster. |

| Apparently alot of people didn't read the fine print since there was an 8+ percent rise in auction listings.. |

I agree - I'm certain many did not ready the fine print - which was 'not very clearly stated'....
I feel for all who get their next bill!!! :? :? |

Personally, I would LOVE to see all the emails that sellers send to them over this. Bet most of them would be a riot after the response was posted along with the emails from Greedbay!
Did sellers not learn one thing about any contract? You ALWAYS read the fine print!
I feel sorry for those that will pay more then they realized it was possible. But, HEY, when does that site NOT screw everyone that is a seller? |

| A seller on the posted on the Auction Listings board that they launched over 8,000 auctions due to this "promotion". They are in for a world of hurt. It's horrible. |

I saw posts on the stors board last nite that said that some of the emails did NOT have the fine print in them, but the announcement at eBay DID have it.
IF those that got screwed keep that email, MAYBE some lawyer may be able to get them their refund due to the fact that the fine print wasn't disclosed everywhere.
But that's a big maybe.

| This has got to be one of the sneakiest and most underhanded thing that eBay has done to-date. Thank goodness I regularly read the boards and thank goodness I closed by store BEFORE this fiasco. People should know by now that eBay does not give anything away for free. There is always a price. |

My email did NOT have the fine print. I was in the middle of submitting a store to core listing when I noticed the $5 fee. I thought it must be after midnight. Nope, it wasn't. I figured it must be some kind of mistake. I went back to the email and read it more carefully. Still nothing in fine print. So I clicked on the "list now" link. There it was in fine print... CREDIT in Sept.
This is going to be very ugly. And I agree, it is the most underhanded thing ebay has done to date. Bait and switch! They suck.
The good news is, it's another nail in the coffin. I just feel sorry for all the sellers who missed the fine print. You gotta train yourself to read that fee charge before you commit/submit! |

And it wasn't JUST the credit that is going to be a problem.
I'm sure that there are plenty of sellers that didn't see all the other strings attached and think they will get credits back.
If you listed directly, instead of from the store, or listed an item from the store that you just put in the store, you won't get any credits back.

This just makes me absolutely ill. You KNOW there are many, many sellers out there that are going to get their next bill and be out of business thanks to ebay and that "credit".
It looks like false advertising to me. They send an email and DO NOT mention the credit. Seller has to go hunt that info up on their own. I'm just sure there's a law against this one.

I agree. This could be a class action waiting to happen. Meanwhile, many sellers are going to loose their shirts.
I just don't get ebay's parasitic behavior. Feeding on it's sole survival system in this deceptive way is only going to hurt them in the long run. |

Our Email also didn't have the fine print but my husband had already heard about it on another board even before we received the EMAIL!! About 5 hours before we got our offer?? Do power sellers get it first maybe?? It was weird, I thought maybe someone was putting out a rumor or something since we had not received the email.
