I just registered for Bidville and started exploring their listings and after randomly looking at a couple hundred listings I couldn't find a single one that had a bid. Then I checked the completed listings and found perhaps 25% (rough guess) that resulted in sales.
Based on my very unscientific survey it appears that Bidville has lots of sellers but very few buyers.
Am I missing something? Also, are most items listed at a fixed price (TAKE IT)?
Thanks. |

SudBuryDave,
Welcome to life outside FeeBay lol.
But - I think 25% is pretty good considering!

The Take It option is very popular at Bidville because sellers recognize that auction style bidding is losing its popularity. In the Completed Listing Search these show up alongside traditional auctions but you have to click on the listing to see if it sold or not.
The statistics you seek for your categories may be found but will take more leg work.
If you want STR that would be the way to calculate it. |

| 25% sell thru rate and no listing fees.. that beats ebay... on auctions the sell-thru rate does not run much better. ( the buy-it now stats with ebay included successfully sold store items ). |

I typically always have items set with some
buy it right now as agree auctions are just
not popular as much as they used to be and
so many items can be found cheaper or the
same as if doing an auction.
Still think that because UBid bought BidVille
there is a much greater chance of visibility
to more potential buyers. And once BidVille
gets all those items back into Froogle/Google Base
things should be even better. |

Most people relist and relist and relist on Bidville becuse it is free to do so. I don't think these relists ever get counted as completed items so the STR rate is much much lower than it might seem on first glance. They will only be included in completed listings when sold or moved off Bidville entirely.
Just a thought. |

It's a slow time of year, so it's likely not robust anywhere. 25 percent is more than my typical eBay "core" sell through (though less than store when I had it). So far I've sold 3 things on Bidville in the 2 weeks I've been up. I'm still getting started, but one item I listed THREE times on greedbay never sold, yet it's selling first time around on BidVille (same opening price, same pictures, same description... just different venue).
With no listing fees, I can't complain! :-D |

I've been on bidville for about 3 weeks. I've had one question, a few viewers, and I just got my first bid. I only have 66 auctions running right now but some have a choice of color and/or design so I'd guess it's more like 100 items or so.
I have items listed on other sites as well. I'd have to say that 3 weeks is the longest I've had to wait for a first bid but we'll see how it works out in the long run. I've deversified enough to be able to compare the options over the next few months. |
