I was wondering how many people here are using the Google online
payment system and what your experiences with it have been so far.

I looked over the information on it and decided to wait a while before
signing up. I want there to be an alternative to PayPal but right now
I stick with them because they're a known quantity (the devil you know)
and I do love the convenience of having a PayPal debit card to pull out
my funds instantly from any ATM.

I suggest checking out www.moneybookers.com they have more than 2million users I think and growing rapidly. They are allowed on ebay. UK-based and very similar to paypal.

I have sold three items in the last two days. I got a great price. I used google checkout. I have had no problems. Money went through. It is great not to pay feebay and palpay. Google checkout rates are cheaper.

I keep hearing so many bad things about PayPal especially the 'Buyers Protection Plan'..if you are a seller. Just this week I have talked to 3 different sellers who have had a buyer decided they didn't want the item they bought. They had PayPal give them their money back and Paypal did not even ask the seller what was going on...just took the money right out of their account...didn't even ask... didn't even care if they sent the item back or not.

Or course they did not. More and more scammers have found this out and are now buying big ticket items, getting their money back and not returning the item.

This is not fair at all. I also am looking for other ways to get payment. I have signed up for XCoin, BidPay (not sure about this one either) and Google .

We need to educate the good buyers out there but how? Telling one here and one there is not enough...it helps but it is not enough.

I LOVE GC! I signed up with them on their pre-launch when they were inviting their Gmail customers. Sure, it takes 3 to 4 business days to clear, but payment goes directly to your bank account. They take every precaution with fraud prevention and verifying the buyer's info. Their fees are 2% plus 0.20 per transaction and nothing else...no monthly fees, no minimum, nothing. As long as you take all steps to verify your identity, bank account on file (needed for all the deposits), there's no limit on your account.

I also signed up with moneybookers for international buyers, but haven't used it yet. They're based in the UK and under strict UK regulations. They make every effort to verify your info as well, so you can expect snail mail from them.

Before GC and the new BidPay (2.5% plus 0.50 per transaction or 2.9% plus 0.50 for international payments) came around, there weren't many choices for US sellers who didn't want the hassle of a merchant account and all the fees associated with it. Now the big boys are in town.
