I'd be very interested to get feedback on www.johnsauction.co.uk. It's been running for over a year now and is mainly for the UK market but everyone is welcome!
I used to sell on 'the other' auction site but I was finding that the costs were too high (like everyone else) and I was making very little profit and sometimes a loss. I tried some of the alternatives but none of them really seemed to be what I was looking for. So I thought I would create my own auction site. I've used the best auction software available and have good quality hosting, so even though I am running the site as a hobby it's certainly not cheap! The aim is to keep the site free where possible (I added some fees for home page features etc to stop them being abused) and rely heavily on the auction community to help run it and keep it free from 'dodgy' sellers.
One big advantage the site has is that your auctions (if they have a BIN ) will be automatically submitted to froogle. In fact most of the current traffic to the site comes via froogle.
The site is not intended to be a replacement for the big auctions, I see it as being more of an additional outlet for sellers.
You views and feedback will be much appreciated. |
