Ok I have read and read and read the post about PSU Web Hosting. As an Ebay refugee I would like to get my own store up and going. I am using ecrater.com at the moment and still have a handful of listings on FEEBAY!

What I am wondering is do you have a PSU Web Hosting for DUMMIES book? I haven't a clue about running a web site beyond ebay. So where do I start with this domain name thingy? Is PSU simple for the newbie. I have looked at the demos and they look intimidating. Is the hosting payed by the month, or does it have to be by the year. Who can you trust to purchase the domain name from then what do you do. I am leary of everything.

I know you guys are going to give me all the answers I need. But its going to take step by step for me!

Hello
We don't have a PSU for dummys book but we do have a knowledge base and support forums for it. Once you sign up you will get access to the support forum and you can ask any questions you have there and we will do the best we can to help you.

First thing you need is a domain name. Godaddy.com is a good place to get that. Over half of all the domain names I have setup or worked with have been registered by godaddy.

We have had several newbies sign up and their stores are already launched and they are even helping answering questions on the support forum. There will be a learning curve but onces you do something once and start using it things start making sense fast. You can get youre store up and running in a few days or a few weeks it all depends on how much work you put into it and your willingness to learn.

I'm wondering if there is a list somewhere of all the stores that have started here at PSU? I'd love to see how many there are and take a look at them. :D

Thanks Rose, but I still don't know which are the stores hosted at PSU. My web site is under clothes, but it is really not a store and it's NOT hosted by PSU.

The "Users Storefronts" link at the top of the page has links to stores hosted everywhere.

We have a short list of psu stores at http://www.powersellersunite.com/psustore_about.php just click on "Click here to view some LIVE stores" The list is pretty old and we have a lot more stores then that. I should update the list soon.

Ms. Dee,

We were just like you a few months ago. We wanted to close our Ebay store and look for other opportunities. We just didn't know who, what, where, when or how. We found PSU and decided to open our own ecommerce store.

There is definitely a learning curve as PSU stated. Make sure you read the tutorials, forums and ask questions. The people here are great and will help you every step of the way. You are not alone!!

Hope that helps!

We've all been where you are. I was so intimidated the first time I thought I should just give up online selling completely! Really! I decided I wasn't sure I knew how to even tie my shoes! (That was after I read some tutorials and realized that a lot of tech people don't speak anything BUT tech!!!!!)

However, take it slow and easy and ask a lot of questions. I probably asked every question there was to ask, screwed up everything there was to screw up (but PSU was excellent about fixing/showing me how to fix whatever I screwed up).

You can do this. When it gets to be too much, you have to get up and walk away for awhile. And it will. But it is SOOOOOOOO worth it I can't begin to tell you!

My PSU website went live last Friday and I've already made 2 sales on it! Now that doesn't sound like much but I had a website for SIX MONTHS that did nothing. PSU is already starting to cook. :) :)

MsDee - I don't have a PSU site, but I did want to reassure you that even though it may seem overwhelming right now, you'll do just fine. :)

A little over a year ago, I knew a little html and that was it. I'm still no expert, but I've managed to get three ZenCarts up and running (working on a 4th one now).

It's not quite as bad/hard as it looks and I'm sure if you visit the support forums, you'll find a ton of information and lots of help.

Good Luck!! :)

Hello everyone,

I am new and have several questions. This is my first post. I have been looking at your site for awhile and really like it. I am thinking of opening up a store. I have some questions. I see I need to get a domain name. I looked at the store prices and found them reasonable. What is web hosting? Is that when PSU host the store? Do I need a server and what is a server? Do I need to install anything onto my puter? I think I read that I do not. I really know nothing about having my own web site. Any info would be appreciated. :?

Thank you,
Dragon

Web hosting is that we host your website on our server. You do not need a server or anything installed on your computer. This is not a store like on ebay where you have your items hosted on their site. This is your own store on your own site. Your domain name will go to your site and server and you can even have email at your domain name and host your own pictures on your server.

So then I would just need to get the domain name and then sign up for the Ecommerce Web Hosting plan and I will be all set to ask all my other silly questions, right? This will let me build my store, my way, on my terms, right? This is just too cool.
