Let me begin by introducing myself. I am Ray (aka) Binarywebs. If you use, and or visit, PHPProbid auction sites, then chances are excellent that you have seen, and or utilized Features and Functionality that I have created, designed, and or implemented. (As has been the case for the last couple of years running.)
While our site is not 'vastly' different than most, we are unique in our own rights ... We are not eBay (nor will we ever be) ... We are not the biggest ... Not the best .. Not even the host with the most ... We are however, a tight knit community of friends (Family in many cases) who enjoy transacting with one another within the confines of our Safe, Secure, and Easy to use web site, which we dubbed AuctionQuests (www.auctionquests.com) that has been open to the general public since February of 2005.
While we offer most all categorizations for your items, primarily our sales (and current listings) have come from our Art, Antiques, and Collectibles categories, with more antiques having been sold than anything.
Our site, up to this point, has been marketed via word of mouth primarily. With a member base of several hundred devoted users (at the time of this writing), it has served us well, however, expansion time is upon us, and a new membership drive is now in progress.
Our features and functionality are the same as most auction platforms (Being that I have created most of the customized solutions for many) We do offer additional functionality which is not found on the masses, such as IM Alerts and our Digital Download Delivery system (Just to name but a few). We do cross promote your listings with all of the applicable tools of the trade (Google Base, Froogle, BidHopper, BidFind, and Usenet).
Our Fee Structure is quite simple: You pay a flat 2% final value fee if (and only if) your item sells, period. There are no other fees involved (Unless you wish to become an ID Verified Member, optional $2.50). All other services are provided free of charge including (but not limited to): Stores, Blogs, Featured Listings, Listing Features, Media Uploads, and Digital Downloads.
We do not play site politics. Politics are best left to the politicians.
We've got stuff Buyers love.
We've got stuff Sellers love.
If your looking for a friendly place to visit, have fun, Make friends and sales, we'd love to have you as well!
Best wishes ..... Ray. |

Hi Ray,
I for one would like to wish you much success! I would also like to back him up by saying that he is definitely a great developer. Who has provided many of us PHP Pro Bid sites with much added functionality, of which we wouldn't of been able to provide our users with.
Again wishing your site much success!

Ray, you said that up to now you have only advertised by word of mouth. Do you plan to do any other type of advertising and if so, what and when and where?
Thanks,
Jo |

In addition to the normal site advertising (Google Base, Froogle, BidFind, BidHopper and Usenet), we plan a Banner advertising campaign on a number of various related web sites (including this one once a spot opens) , a print ad campaign in a small variety of related publications, as well as a flyer campaign at several related trade shows. We currently have Banners in rotation on a number of specific sites, including, having our logo/url stamped onto the images of a popular image hosting site.
Without elaborating on specific publications, the print ads will begin mid October if all goes off according to plan. |

And are you going to continue to focus on antiques/collectibles? I've been waiting and hoping someone somewhere would develop a niche a/c site that would be auction and storefront both.

Hi Jo, Yes. Thus far, its been our mainstay, so we plan to stay close/true to our roots. Its our initial target audience (Antiques/Art/Collectbles) and from there, evaluate which direction (if needed) we should branch out towards. |

Ray, that's terrific! Now if you can get a wonderful influx of buyers, you'll be on your way. If you don't mind, I'm going to spread the word.

Lots of empty categories there.
Nothing turns off buyers more than categories with nothing in them.
You might want to consider holding off creating so many subcategories until there is a real need for them.
Good luck! |

AuctionQuests is growing like a weed, and quickly becoming a hot spot to buy and sell. I want to take a moment and personally say thanks to all our supporting members for helping make it what it is today.
Latest Stats:
What a difference a couple of months make!
Looking forward to the New Year and wishing everyone much luck, good health, and successful sales! |
