A member this morning on the Stores Board made a very interesting suggestion (of course, my poor little hand was promptly smacked, even though all posts surrounding mine and of similiar content are nicely intact) and I have decided to see if it's worth a go...
The deal:
Another boycott, this time for one week; the difference... All participants agree to vote for a st elsewhere; and once a majority consensus is reached, before the boycott date, all participants agree, regardless of if it's not their personal st elsewhere, to list a minimum of 20 items on the chosen site. The point? Well, we are stepping our boycotting up a notch, and showing our dedication to our businesses.
On my message board I have created a forum specifically for this, if in fact it's something enough people want to participate in (eBay Boycott Voting Board)...
I swore I was done organizing anything in regards to eBay, however, this idea that was presented intrigued me and got me thinking about what the outcome of such an endeavor might be... At the very least, an auction site that is NOT eBay will have some extra listings and probably buys...
It's still a "thought"...
Also, if it does get rolling, I'd like to ask the PSU Admin if we can run a tally of participants and votes here as well as on my message board... I think having it in two places would give it more exposure, and here is where it belongs, if you think it's appropriate...
I will NOT be keeping a tally on the eBay Stores Board, as I have a very inside feeling that if I post boycott and st elsewhere in the same sentence, I will be suspended indefinately... They are already pulling stuff of mine that is not in violation, so I wouldn't put anything past their pinks, cheerleaders or trolls...
Think about it, give me feedback; This was not my idea, but I think it's a good idea and could be very promising for us sellers as a whole...
Also, one vote per person please... And please be honest... We are all in this together and this would a joint effort, no matter where we list...
Blessings...

| I forgot to add, the st elsewhere we would vote on would have to be one that is free to list on... I don't think anyone should be "made" to list somewhere where it would cost them to list... |

This sounds like a really good idea. I would vote and be glad to list elsewhere. I've registered at several places including bidville, blujay, ecrater, google base, ebid, and bid-alot. I only am using ecrater and google base but I have more than enough items (that I ended on E) that I could list and that works for me.

20 items? how about all of them? If its a free site what do you have to loose? I already left FEEBAY. "it sucked"
I have listings on google.base and my own site. I started on craigslist and ecrater.
I cancelled PayPal also.
How about 20% instead. Before my account was suspended many sellers on the boards had reduced listings by 50% already.
If people like your product they will buy it elsewhere.
Keep up the anti-ebay talk. Word will get around.
Meg and Bill don't need the money. They should fire all the cheap non english speaking labor and just close up or sell out.
Ebay has enough listing to give all the other places a good start. I think that's what many of us are trying to do. We list in more than place.
I wonder if FEEBAY has ticked off any hacker groups? It would be funny to see the front page defaced. Like a replaced logo. ;) |

I don't think we need to encourage any hackers -- feebay does enough to F-up their site on their own. When was the last time EVERYTHING worked the way it is supposed to over there ??
All the glitches is a secondary reason why so many are fed up with feebay. I think many would put up with the fee hikes IF things worked. But between a stupid broke "search" and listings missing or re-listed long after they are sold, people are sick of the hassles.
As I'm already on most of the sites that get mentioned all the time, count me in on anything you come up with.

| Carol....you mean it was actually supposed to work???? I thought they built it like that on purpose. Gave them a reason to keep asking for fee hikes...to FIX everything!! LOL |

Yah CB, but the problem is, they never do truly fix anything. They just keep adding more Glitchancements that make things work even worse.
There is something new being talked about on the stores board now -- some new big ugly banners at the top of the search pages that are horribly slow to load even on DSL. People on Dial-up will never get the page to load. Talk about running off your customers !!!

Count me in!
I woke up feeling real down in the dumps over
how miserably Ebay is doing us these days.especially as regards SEARCH!
I am "small fry", but I have already moved about 150
items to several other sites.
I still have lots more I could list.
This new Boycutt is just what is needed to rev up my enthusiasm!!
I am on eCrater,Blujay.com,
and signed up with Tazbar,Bidville and Hibidder |

Great, so far good feedback...
Also, I cannot emphasize enough that we need to vote for a site that has free listing; I don't want to personally shell out more money than I have to at this point in the game...
Anyone want to compile a list of free listing sites for me *grin*
Oh and the 20% sounds great too... I think the thought process behind 20 items is that many sellers who have been affected by the recent carp on eBay are relatively small sellers (of course, this has also affected big sellers, don't get me wrong)... So, for a small seller, 20 items would be about 20% of their inventory... Feel free to list as much as you want... More exposure and listing never hurt anyone, unless you had/have an eBay store, LOL... |

Count me in.
Sorry, but I need to expose my ignorance here.
Where is your ""Message Board""?
How do I get to it?
Do you have a link you can give me?
Thanks,

You are not ignorant, LOL... The siggie is small :)
Alright, what name should I put and who are you voting for?
I still need to compile a list of FREE sites, as I think that's the only right way to do this... So, if your site is free to list on, let me know... So I can add it...
So far we have had votes for Lowbid.com and HiBidder.com
I also know eCrater.com and blujay.com are free... any more? |

Alrighty, I've got the go ahead from the Admin to post a tally of boycotters and sites here...
I will be adding from here and on my message board, so everyone gets counted...
Please give me a user name and free site vote...
I will be posting on the top of this thread, so you don't have to scroll to see...
I will compile tonight and see where we are at...
If no one does, I'll research and compile a list of free listing sites, in case you are currently NOT listing anywhere besides eBay or are listing on a site that charges listing fees...
We can discuss here and on the message board dates... I've had a few suggestions from members... End of 3rd quarter, Oct 9 (Canadian Thanksgiving) etc... Keep the dialogue flowing and let's see if we can do this thing... |
