eBay's Ban of EuroGiro is most laughable policy ever and is disturbing evidence that eBay is not doing its homework.

Take into account that I am not an anti-ebayer and still use the service although with far less focus as I did before for obvious reasons.

It was known eBay made several boneheaded moves already with its safe payments policy.

For example NoChex a reputable service was first banned and unbanned in rapid succesion causing UK sellers great distress.

Hyperwallet was banned for several months for being "unsafe" despite the fact the service was the approved payment service on eBay before Paypal was purchased and is well linked to Canuck banks

There were several more gaffs such as banning Money Bookers which was intergrated into eBay's own partner Auction Checkout.

Then there were signs of weakness ,eBay Canada community revolted over the ban on coupons issued by Canadian Tire and eBay backtracked. As is the insincere ban on Google Checkout.

Now months later EuroGiro is still banned on eBay but it will likely remain posted as such since no one will protest

EuroGiro is not a payment service as eBay understands it

Not only is the ban silly and not in the best interest of the community or international commerce ,its not enforceable :P

No one goes to EuroGiro , sellers may request money orders , and if buyer's bank or post office happens to offer money orders to sellers country they will send them.

The buyers bank or post office may be a partner of EuroGiro infrastructure and buyer and seller would be none the wiser !

In effect eBay is putting a ban on reputable international postal money orders where both buyer and seller may or may not know if EuroGiro is involved

Not only is it not a ban that can be enforced since buyer should not bother to mention EuroGiro and the buyer uses EuroGiro through proxy such as thier local postoffice or bank.

No seller is going to advertise EuroGiro which is an service provider , and no buyer goes through EuroGiro itself.

This would be akin for eBay banning the "internet" or "banking" as a payment service

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eurogiro acts as a club with the goal to strengthen the co-operation between giro and postbanks/commercial banks for electronic payments solutions. The Eurogiro product range, alliances and service level agreements enable you to offer competitive cross-border payment products meeting your customers’ demands.

Eurogiro is also a provider of electronic payment network solutions created for exchange of transactions between financial institutions and for linking to other payment systems. Today we have succeeded in such a way that our coverage now goes beyond the European borders and is reaching across the globe.

Hear hear. In fact Eurogiro is one of the safest ways to make international payments, in fact it's the only way for Europeans to send money to other EU countries through the post office.

I've contacted eBay about this ridiculous ban two months ago, I haven't heard back from them.

Actually I did mention the possibility of paying through Eurogiro in my listings, until eBay decided to outlaw it. I spent three days manually editing 1000 store listings. I was very angry and upset. Still am actually.

PS: Canadian Tire Money sounds extremely cool. I wish it was available outside of Canada because it sounds cool.
