|
|
Oh how I wish I saved the Live Help dialog I had with an eBay rep today... alas I was so frustrated after disconnecting that I completely forgot to do so.
This is the deal - As the holiday season approaches, I wanted to prep up and get some things ready. My record cleaning kits did quite well last year, so I had the notion to push it a little further by offering gift recipient shipment... no problem right? I mean, that's what the gift icon is for RIGHT!?
Well this is how I posed to the question to "Angelo" at eBay:
"I want to offer gift services for my items so I plan to use the gift icon to let customers know I will ship to gift recipients. My problem is, I have heard that shipping to addresses that are not confirmed by PayPal can be a potential problem - would you please tell me some of those potential problems?"
His reaction was a cut and paste: "if you ship to any address other than the registered member or PayPal's confirmed address, you will not be covered under the Seller Protection Policy"
I took a deep breath and rephrased the question
again again and again - Angelo was just not getting it and kept repeating the same tired line "You wont be covered under the Seller Protection Policy"
I finally said
"I dont want to be rude to you Angelo, and I realize you are very busy, but I get the feeling you are not READING my question and considering it's contents."
...his tune changed and he did come back with "Please sir, tell me what can I do to help you?"
LOL - ok, instead of repeating, let me go step by step with you OK?
Angelo: yes sir, OK
Assume I sell an item to a customer - they pay for it, but then they tell me "ship this to my nephew in Nevada"
Angelo stops me right there and says "As long as his nephew's address is confirmed you will have no problem"
LMAO
Angelo (another deeeeeep breath), his nephew is the gift recipient, he will surely not be confirmed or verified - because he is a GIFT RECIPIENT!
Angelo: "you will not be protected under the Seller Protection Policy"
...at this point I was contemplating a fist thru the monitor lol
Anyway - this goes round and round like that for a much longer period of time before I finally asked him the question "tell me Angelo, WHAT is the gift icon used for on eBay listings?"
He cut and paste some bland info from one of the help pages (which it seems is all these reps know how to do).
So I went ahead and used one of the pastings and brought to his attention that the gift icon tells a customer that I am willing to ship to a gift recipient
Angelo: That is correct sir
Me: Then why are you offering a service that you recommend I do not use!?
Angelo: "I'm afraid I do not know sir"
Fine put me thru to your supervisor
I waited 20 minutes!
Of course I waited no longer - I'd rather pull weeds than waste my afternoon this way
Anyway... I didn't just post here to rant and bore my fellow PSU members... in fact I was wondering what your experiene has been and if you could gimme some tips about this whole "gift recipient" issue.

| I have done it a few times with good results, but holding my breath each time. Each buyer had good feedback and I made sure to save a copy of the email to prove that they requested I send it as a gift just in case knowing it probably wouldn't help. |

I'm with you Becky - I will be holding my breath quite a bit I suppose, cuz I'm going thru with it!
Crystal - have a good laugh! It's the only thing that kept my sanity while talking to that idiot anyway... and looking back on it, I suppose I am glad I didnt wait for a supervisor who probably WOULD have thrown me over the edge with the same tripe

Marty:
I've shipped out and also used sellers that were willing to ship for me to another location. My experience has been positive. Communication is the 'key' and in all my cases, I felt I was dealing with honest buyers and sellers, as we discussed everything and I kept every message with our agreement!
Best of luck - why would you even ping live help dude - what were ya thinking?   |

He knew we needed a bit of amusement for the day Erin....and yep....that did it!!!
Reread it Marty and I swear it's even funnier the second time around. ( I could even see you bopping the guy on the head every time he repeated 'You wont be covered!')
You must have a great sense of humor and the patience to go with it!!! |

well.................... I opened up a piece of my life to you PSU members and now I am turning into the butt of the joke here!!!
lmao - of course I am kidding and I can take the abuse. My ex put me thru a lot worse, so anything happening here on PSU is a walk in the park (even the OLA threads)... at any rate, when I miss the old times and need a good rage building on, I now know I can call on eBay support to fill the need.
and Mo, if I had Megaloid's email address I would put it on every spammable site known to man!

| Not a butt of any joke Marty cause we feel your pain. It's just nice to see real people that have dealt with Ebay. Knowing that we aren't the only ones that feel like thumping folks is always good for a laugh. ( Lord knows I've felt like doing more than just thumping them though! LOL) |
