|
|
eBay has raised fees for classified ads on the UK site. eBay had expanded classifieds from Real Estate to other categories in February on the US site, yet many users remain unaware that a classified-ad format is available. eBay UK introduced the new listing format in August on eBayMotors.co.uk and in the Business, Office and Industrial categories. The Classified Ads appear on eBay alongside regular Auction-style and Buy it Now listings.
eBay UK is raising listing fees from 6 pounds per Classified Ad to 9.99 pounds. eBay UK will also halve the fee for items relisted in the Classified Ad format, regardless of whether the original listing was Auction-style, Buy It Now or Classified Ad format. Fees for dealers using eBay Motors Pro are unaffected.
In the US, sellers pay $9.95 for a 30-day classified ad, which is available in the following categories: Websites and Businesses for Sale; Trade Show Booths; Prefabricated Buildings; Travel; Specialty Services; and Everything

| Not sure I would WANT an ad on Ebay. Fast becoming known as a haven for fraud, theft, hackers, identity thieves and knock offs! Spend the money on something that has a chance of helping you! Dixie |

I agree. The smaller auction sites are far better at policing and preventing frauds and scams and this should be true of the classified sites. Or, at least as a user, if you something fraudulent or a scam you will more than likely get a response from CS and action taken.
I don't believe will ever be able to police its sites adequately -- and I'm not even sure they care to. They like to make it look like they are doing something every once in a while -- i.e. they make statements to reporters, etc. |

| Sadly, I remember when the CEO of Ebay was answering his emails personally. Ah, for long-gone days! Dix |

| Ebay's probably just too big to monitor all of the online fraud happening over there--Where the smaller sites have less to check out from day to day due to lower traffic. |

| I don't buy that. Even when they are informed of specific fraudulent activity by a specific seller, they do absolutely nothing! What is their Trust and Safety department supposed to do? They simply do NOT care. Dixie |
