Well, due to the way Ebay cuts off communication if you are suspended, I was resuspended within a week of being back on. It's really sad.
I don't sell much, just enough to cover my rent and monthly expenses ($320 or so) and here is my situation. I have a few questions at the end. Any answers would be appreciated, please understand that I am asking for help from anyone who cares to give it. I am neither demanding nor expecting everyone to cater to my needs for help.
A new friend who lives one town over never had an Eay account. I had him open an account and a Paypal. He used all of his own information. I go to his house and use his computer to list. I do not use any of the same pictures, nor do I sell any of the same items that I used to sell. In fact, it's not even the same genre of items.
I was never active on the forums, by which I mean I never even went to them. No one on ebay knows me and I never generated more than maybe a grand a month on my best month.
Given that information, here are my questions:
1. To make listing more conventient for me I would like to use my laptop to create listings. I could use Turbo Lister and make the auctions at home, then take the laptop to his place and upload the auctions. However, I have used this laptop to list on my old account. WHat do I need to do to make absolutely sure that I don't get this new account suspended? I will have a different IP of course, and I know to clear all of my cookies. I searched for every file with "Ebay" in the name on my harddrive and deleted it.
2. How plausable would it be to get a non US Ebay account for my personal use? I sell a lot to the UK (The types of products I sell are bigger over there than in the US) so I was thinking I might just make an EBay UK account.
3. For my personal website I am going to need a merchant gateway. I was going to go with Propay. Has anyone had any experience with them?
4. Though not a fan of EBay, I find that to get what my items are worth I need their large customer base. For my particular genre of items, miniature wargaming supplies and roleplaying adventures, are there any better sales sites?
I am appreciative of any answers and in turn will do my utmost to help this community in anyway I can. Thakn you for taking the time to read this. |

| Was this the wrong place to ask these questions? I was told in the "Introduce yourself" forum that there were a lot of helpful people here who could answer my questions. Did I post them in the wrong fotum? |

Hi Lemon and welcome to PSU.
Well, as to answering yor questions, they are not easy ones to answer. As I read through your list I thought perhaps there would be one I could answer but I'm afraid I can't.
I hope someone here can, and I wish you the best in your endeavors.

Lemon: Welcome to PSU! I've also not got answers, but wanted to bump this for you.
My only advice on this is if ebaY suspended you for a reason, and you understand the reason, a new ID may not be the answer - if you repeat whatever happened the first time. That was circular, but I hope it makes sense.
If you've cleared your cookies, etc. and your templates are also 'new', you should be OK. One item to think about is photos - if they have the technology to track, which I'm certain they do, ensure you're using a new photohost as well.
Glad you're here - maybe someone more in the know on your other questions will help you more!! :D :D |

I appreciate the help. Yes, I understand what you mean. If Ebay suspended me for a bad practice then I will just get banned again if I continue it.
I no longer ship media mail, I give my customers the choice of First Class or Express mail, all with Delivery Confirmation. Ebay seems to not understand that people can realise mistakes and change their methods. That was the problem I had with them, aside from the fees, it's like once you are employed there they erase the word "Circumstances" from your mind. Their training seminar must teach you that everything is black and white.
I always hosted my pictures with Ebay, so no problem there.
Again, I am most appreciative of your assistance. |

Couple of help tips:
First ebay are tracking photos more & more…it is not the actual photo but the exif data that is embedded in the photo (date of pic to the second and camera make and model) also change the name of the folder that you keep your ebay photo’s in.
If you still have Turbo lister on your laptop (the one you were using when suspended) totally delete it, then do a registry search and clear out any ebay references.
Turbo lister is a system that tells ebay in milliseconds that you are back.
Clear your cache daily & use fire fox browser with all the private settings selected....do not open any ebay/paypal emails to your old email account  |

Unsure on how to do a registry search, if you feel like telling me feel free to, otherwise I can do a search if you don't feel like the trouble.
If they are logging whether or not I use the same camera then could they just tell I was using the same computer regardless of whether I formatted my harddrive or not? |

I dunno how to do a registry search either - so no help there! I don't believe they can track the camera, but they can track the path of photo uploads (hosted, or user system). Does that make sense? IF you right-click on a photo, and check properties, typically the path of the pic. is right there!
Bump for help on the registry search!! :D :D |

| Lemon, what you do is you have him set up an account with Vendio or Marketworks... one of the 3rd party listing services. Then you can list from your computer through them and never even log on to the site. That's what China does and no IP or other information is passed through to ebay related to you. If they did it would be a security issue of protected information and I'm sure the 3rd parties wouldn't like that showing up in the press |

I'm going to look into those straight away. I've never heard of a third party listing service and an uncertain how that would even work.
I really appreciate all of the helpful responses. If only we could get all o fhte ex ebay sellers on the same auction site maybe there would be another option as lucrative as Ebay. As it is now you can't even sell anything on there that sells for less than ten bucks and syill expect to make any decent coin. |

inkfrog is another 3rd party listing service that is considerably less expensive than the other 2.
Other than that, i'm no help. |

| Lemon, good luck. I'd be interested in knowing more about your suspension so message me if you can. If not, that's ok too! Hope everything turns out ok for you |
