|
|
I was/am a Silver PowerSeller, with over 2,400 with that being 99.9% positive feedback). I sell mainly vintage lingerie and took so much pride in my eBay business.
I am totally distraught. I had a ME page violation 1 week ago for a supposed "adult" link on it. (it was a vintage style pin up model site, NON NUDE).
Sunday, Oct. 15 I wake up to find I am suspended because of my ME page having hidden javascript script code, but eBay of course did not provide me with the code (they left that part blank), and refuse to tell me what it is, I truly think they do not know! It's a typical about ME page, I do have some Halloween themed music playing (a midi file) and your typical pictures etc. I did not maliciously or intentionally "interfere" with their site whatever the heck that means. That is what they claim and that is what my suspension is, "site interference".
Because this was my 2nd violation like in 2 weeks they suspended me.
I am distraught, this is my sole income, and have no where to turn and don't know what to do. I just feel eBay is ripping people's lives apart and with their Dictatorship way of thinking :(
I finally TODAY received this:
We have determined that you account will remain suspended for a term of
no less than 7 days from the date of suspension. On the 7th day you may
reply to this email to request the reinstatement. Part of the condition
of your reinstatement will be that you are not permitted to use Java
script in your About Me page. Any future eBay policy violations may
result in the immediate and indefinite suspension of your eBay account. |

Seems the great and powerful oz of e-bay has been doing this alot lately.
Sorry to here about your site. As many users on here have suggested and done start listing items on other sites while you wait out the seven days. Then keep listing on other sites until you can tell the oz of e-bay where to stick the witches broom.

| Sorry you got NARU that sucks. And the pictures on your site are no worse than girls in bikinis. I have seen worse pictures in ebay ads. Ebay isn't fair and ebay just doesn't care. Take this as an opportunity to spread your wings beyond the scope of ebay. |

To echo others on this thread...
This is becoming all too common now.
Has someone finally lost their minds? It seems as
though they are doing their level best to drive off
the people that are making them the most money.
or rather were making them the most money... |

Oh, they pulled Bernie?! I think it's because the front of her page says Adults Only, that's why. She's been selling for years on ebay and she models for just about all the new rockabilly lines plus they use her images on ebay everywhere so I'm pretty certain it was because of the Adult sign once you enter her site.
The thing about ebay is they don't need us. We are like geriatric sellers who take up too much resources in customer service, live help, and on the forums bad press! We're not naive or gullible, and we can see a scam coming a mile a way. Newbie sellers will list in core and it will take them probably a year or two before they catch up. I have a note here that I'm going to match up the # of stores that closed from Springerlings site against the # of stores that ebay reported today.
That's the hardest part, y'know. Realizing that you're disposable. I love what I sell but I also have thought for a very long time that I might be better of selling junk on ebay, instead of my collectibles. I think those who still need ebay to work in order to pay the bills should consider mixing up their merchandise to keep costs of product low.
Smelly socks, well worn shoes, cereal boxes and haunted auctions. That, and recycling what you are gonna throw in the garbage might be the only way to survive unfortunately |

Hi everyone,
Let me clarify, it was NOT the Bernie Dexter site that got me the boot (that was my FIRST violation) , it was some "HIDDEN Java script or "EMBEDDED code" that they were unhappy about, that was the second violation that got me NARU. I do believe it's the MIDI FILE playing the Halloween music. |

I looked at the code of the google cached page and here is the javascript that caused the suspension.
Code: › docWrite("code")
<script language=JavaScript>
<!--
//Disable right mouse click Script
var message="SweetCherry Vintage Lingerie";
///////////////////////////////////
function clickIE4(){
if (event.button==2){
alert(message);
return false;
}
}
function clickNS4(e){
if (document.layers||document.getElementById&&!document.all){
if (e.which==2||e.which==3){
alert(message);
return false;
}
}
}
if (document.layers){
document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN);
document.onmousedown=clickNS4;
}
else if (document.all&&!document.getElementById){
document.onmousedown=clickIE4;
}
document.oncontextmenu=new Function("alert(message);return false")
// -->
</script>
All it does is disable the right click and pops up a message box saying "SweetCherry Vintage Lingerie"
If anything it should just be a slap on the wrist since the script is not malicious. eBay can also easily prevent scripts like this form being inserted in the first place. It is their fault that they even allowed it. |

Here's something to think about.
They'll let is go from bad to worse by not answering questions from ebayers asking about what can and cannot be included on the about me page. They'll slap people left and right for no reason and the reason why they will is to taint it to where everyone is afraid of putting anything up there. Then they can replace it with the Myworld later on.
and their justification at that point will be low usage and security. Just like that SOB who announced updating our browsers is to protect us |

Two things on my mind at this point...
I never bothered with the about Me page
because quite frankly, what they will allow
and not allow was extremely vague to me.
(I never said I was a rocket scientist but...)
As to the updating the browers, I don't really
under how that can or will protect anyone on
eBay. Most of the trouble you get is from dense
customers and scam artists... |
