|
|
SAN FRANCISCO EBay, the world's largest online auctioneer, on Wednesday reported a better-than-expected profit for the third quarter after online payment services spurred revenue growth.
Profit rose 10 percent from a year earlier to $280.9 million. Analysts, on average, expected eBay to report a profit of $238.2 million.
The PayPal payment services unit of eBay grew faster than eBay's core auction sites and helped to raise revenue 31 percent to $1.45 billion. Higher spending to improve security in auctions and improve payment and online phone services narrowed eBay's profit margins.

| I wonder how much of that profit was caused by peeps leaving Greedbay due to lack of sales and selling elsewhere while still using Paypal? |

| I use paypal everywhere I sell - even have their shopping cart on my website. In the past, I paid a third party just to take credit cards for me...their cut was a lot higher than Paypal...so until something better comes along I'll stick with them. (hope Ebay doesn't hear that cause they'll raise paypal's cut!) |

Good point Becky considering Pp has been around longer than most other WPS companies and is known through out the world.
I'm like Patty. I'll keep using PP most everywhere until something better and more economical comes along. |

Ditto, I have been off Ebay for close to 2 years now, but still use PP Pro on every site and venue I'm on.
It kills that it's putting $$ in Ebay's pocket, but it is the game in town right now |
