I often wonder about these when I see them as well....My only thought is perhaps they were standing on a corner one day, and tons of stock fell off a truck that was headed across town to drop off an order.... :D :D  |

Paul's a great guy - he's smart, fun and a 'great host'!!! I'm gonna head that way in a bit! Making the rounds today - been down a bit with a head cold!!
Seriously, back to your original post, I've struggled with this forever....when I think of all the methods one can use to get stock for selling, none of them can equate to this type of volume - in my mind - legitimately!!
Simply amazing to me how one can do this, and even if all items had a zero cost - agree....make enuf to even cover fees, let alone profit!! :? :) |

Did you check out their S&H for those $6 items ??
I would bet that it's in the $10+ range. Possibly even $20-30 !!
That's how many of them stay in business for a while.

Is it 70,000 listings?? Wow, my head hurts just thinking of taking all those pictures and typing all those descriptions. Is it 1 each of 70,000 or large quantities of each item? The monthly listing fee is the same in each case. I think a person could make it on volume (as Wal-Mart knows) if conditions were right. Also, if they sell quickly, they're not paying listing fees for a bunch of months before sale. Depending on what he has to pay for stock, that's roughly $1.00 or $8.00 profit per item. Not a fortune, but a nice little second income. Still....70,000 listings.....oh, my aching head.
My merchandise was priced mostly from 3 - 5.00, took several months to sell and were all one-of-a-kind. In my case, the eBay store definitely was not worthwhile. |

That is odd then. If the shipping isn't outrageous, then he won't be in business long if he paid anything for the stock at all.
It's also possible that, like a site we won't talk about here, this is a tax write-off for another successful business.
That's the only thing that makes any sense at all.

Mean people do live in main....My ex wife is there... Thats all I have to say about that....
If this seller is selling post cards, He could duplicate the card with the correct printer, You can but sheet stock that these cards are printed on at very low price. I worked for a paper plant that sold this stock as scrap that was left over.. Just a thought.....
