I'm still registered at Bidville, but haven't listed "in a coon's age" and have never tried WP (due to all the "pain" the first time around). What I'd like to know is, what are their sell through rates, how do you find them, and is ANYONE having any luck at either place :?: :?: :?:

Hi,

I've listed at Bidville and have not sold one item. I checked several weeks ago and idn't even have many page views, so I'm not thirlled iwth them. I wish I could get my money back. I haven't sold a thing at Yahoo either. Then I was with WP for a month and then left, not happy there either.

Right now I have listings at Yahoo, Bidville, Ecrater, & F:bay. My plans were to have 1000 items listed at F:bay for the shopping season. I had over 800 so I was on my way and doing ok. Then the big announcement came and I started reducing my listings and now I have less than 200 and still am taking off. My sales are practically at a stand still there, too.

I finally had another sale at eCrater today which makes a grand total of 3 sales but it is a start and I'm really please with them. I plan on staying at ecrater for at least 6 months to see how it goes.

Then there is the new site ewaey.com that has some good ideas and I've resgistered but no listings, yet. If I ever have time I probably will check it out and see what happens. It's free, so no harm in trying, just time.

I have no idea what their sell through rate is but I hope someone answers that does know.

If Selling Product Or Sports Cards For $5.00 Or Under You Might Have A Few Sales. If Your Actually Serious About Making Money It Won't Happen. Seems To Me It's A Tax Write-Off For Owners. They've Been In Business For 7-8 yrs. And Nobody Beyond Sellers Even Knows They're There. 2/3 Of Listings Are Sports Cards-Good Luck.

Bidvill, I'm finally getting page views which I attribute to holiday lookers. It was dead there at first. I have auctions and fixed price only.

I get sales at ecrater, but it's slow coming.

Thanks for the input! My best sellers lately have been eCrater and Blujay; and to a less extent, Yahoo. Everything else seems DEAD

I was looking at Bidville a little today just to see where else I should expand to. I checked there because on the Auction Site Count they have over a million items. I checked the clothes area and most of the stuff there didnt have any bids let alone any views. You would think a place with so many items would have some buyers there. I think Im sticking with eCrater for quite some time as well. Easy to list, FREE, Awesome Froogle Placement, Google Checkout, and its really starting to pick up over there.

I had several items listed at Bidville for 12 months.
Not one sale.

I had listed well over 100 items at PlunderHere. So far since September, I have sold 35 items.

For me, ebay has given me the most sales and PlunderHere has been second. I have had 1 sale at ecrater. And NOTHING from the other 6 to 10 sites I list on.

As of the first of the year, it is time for me AGAIN to list on a different 10 sites and try to find sales.

I bought into the 3 month featured store blip at the end of July... No traffic, no sales... Closed my store the day it was set to charge me again...

Several of my constituents are on WP, but I honestly do not like it there...

I've had the best sales on HB, over 60 in two stores since Aug, not too bad, considering I had 4 sales on eBay the month I closed my store... LOL... Had a sale on etsy, but haven't listed there in awhile... Just went back the other day and the site looks great since V.2 came out... :)

I forgot a I had a listing on Bidville till I got the email from Bidville about a sale. Too good to be true for sure. It was a a scammer offering me more money than the listing was posted for. Great, just what I need.

I can say my Barbie dolls received no views. I mean zero.

I have had 4 sales on HiBidder, 2 sales on ecrater, and 7 sales on Yahoo.

I also wish that the sell through rate on certain items can be researched. I would not have wasted my time on Bidville if I had known.

Hi all,
New to this forum was referred by bizarremart, and thought I would check it out. I have been on Wagglepop, though it seems everyone there is trying to make it work, traffic has been slow I have had no sales though haven't put up a lot of items yet. Also on Ioffer lots of traffic only one sale, Google base also some traffic no sales though again not a lot of listings as yet. Still using Feepay as sales are still ahead of charges though not by much, looking far and near for any better ideas.

Now is the wrong time for me to be responding because Im drinking a few beers, but Bidville and Wagglepoop SUCK ASS!!!! Bidville needs to change their name to Bideville, because if your waiting for a sale there you better BIDE your time... lol... If you cant sell anything during December on a place you need to stop wasting your time.. All of the Bideville and Wagglepoop people can say whatever they like, but money talks and sales talk even more.. Peace Out folks.. Buy Anheuser-Busch stock...

I've had decent sales at BidVille. But, I've had to push my auctions myself. BidVille has been doing absolutely nothing in the way of advertising. And this has gotten to be a sore point with me.
They site functions pretty good, but without some type of outside advertising it will never grow to it's full potential.

Many sites where you get a high number of hits are counting multiple hits from the same person. I don't see that happening at BidVille. To verify this go to a auction page with a counter and hit the refresh button a few times. If it increases each time then it is not counting unique hits. It is counting refreshes. That's not a very good way to count traffic, but the numbers look good.

Thats a good point HonestJoe. Only counting unique hits makes BV look alot worse than it acually is compared to other sites that count refresh hits. Here's another thought. Since there is very little or no advertising bringing in new buyers, the hits that are received are from already registered sellers who are more likely to buy than a newcomer who would have to go through the trouble of signing up. The 2 sales that I made only had 1 or 2 hits on them.

I have a total of 2 hits on 119 listings at BV. And BV is now the only site of about a dozen that I list on where I've been there for well over a year and still have never made a sale.

There had been 2 other sites in that same group until around Thanksgiving weekend but both of then had at least 2 sales recently.

I will continue to list there thru this Jan to May seed season, as I don't have a store so it isn't costing me anything to just keep listing.

As far as WP goes, I was part of the first incarnation of WP. I learned too well from Ray during our wait for the original launch. At that time he preached the message that a site that charges up-front-fees tends to get lazy as they already have your money and they don't care if you sell or not.

Well big surprise, now WP charges up-front-fees!!! Is it any wonder that there are a lot of sellers PO'd at the site.

Absolutely none of the sites I sell at charge up-front-fees. No I'm not selling things hand over fist, but my items are rather seasonal. Last year I had pretty good sales from Jan thru May, my prime time.

Actually my best sales for the last 2 years have been for my own web site. While I do have sort of an up-front-fee with the hosting fee, usually the sales the first month of my renewal (Feb) more than pays for the whole year's site fees. The time to keep it updated is my only REAL cost there.

Carol
