|
|
This past week I noticed just about all my listings in certain categories had vanished. Can only think it had something to do with me attempting, once again, to figure out the sub category mess I had going.
Whatever the reason, apparently the listings are gone, along with all those descriptions as I have to date, never figured out how to back up my listings. Bulk Listers never work for me. Admittedly, I'm a computer illiterate of the highest order but this loss of all those listings really got to me.
Thoroughly disgusted! When I originally set up my store there I could not figure out how to get subcategories. After hours of playing with it, finally I thought I had it figured out but apparently anything I already had listed evaporated when I added all the subs???? It's beyond me? For instance I had just Clothing and Shoes. Now I have many subs under clothing and almost every clothing listing is gone. Shoes seem OK??? even tho I did add subs to that also. Got Me? |

Sorry Joyce. I was talking about ecrater. Thought I was on a topic that was just about ecrater?? Forgive my not mentioning the site! Barbara
I'm not even sure exactly how many are gone. I found about 18 or 20 still in my ended listings at feebay but am sure there were a lot more that I had started new at ecrater. Frustrating.
For some reason I thought as long as the root category stayed the same the listings would just show in the root category till I went back and edited them all to a subcategory but guess it doesn't work that way. What baffles me is that it seems all the shoes, mens, womens and childrens are still there? At least I haven't found any missing that I can remember. who knows? It's the clothing that all vanished. The only things there now are things I saved from my ended feebay listings, everything else is gone. |

Sorry to hear that. I have a couple of stores and all my stuff is still there. Of course, I don't use the bulk lister. Some of them are just too difficult to mess with. I don't like any of them.
I thought maybe it was Hibidder as I was reading the boards and it seems like there are some problems there also. I don't list there anymore and I didn't have any sales and it seemed really slow to load a lot of the time.

Yikes if I was confused before now I'm truly befuddled. When I go to products at ecrater it shows mostly just shoes and those few clothing things I rescued the other night BUT I just went to my store url and all that clothing is in the store (and it seems in the new subcategories I set last week)?? Why aren't they showing up under products? Ready to throw in the towel with this site, just too much for my small brain (or tired one, maybe I need a long vacation, LOL) Barbara
My fault. When I first started listing there and couldn't figure out the sub categories I should have stopped listing till I got it! Instead of going ahead and listing like 150 things and figuring I would get it all straight later on. Too much of a rush to get out of feebay. |

| Well I just went and physically counted and I was wrong. The same number of items is showing in my products and in my store. So I am still missing a few dozen listings. I need a break, a long one  . Thought I solved the mystery. Oh Well! |

I think you have to put the subcategory in before you do the description and put it in the subcategory. I found that out when I first starting do it. At least that's what I had to do and that's the way I've been putting my stuff in. If I am going to put a new item on I make sure the category and subcategory are already in before typing it.
Hope that helps. Unfortunately I don't know how it works with the bulklister as like I said I don't use it.

Barbara - I listed the items I've got at eCrater a while ago, so honestly do not remember in what order I did 'what'....Is there a forum or customer support? Or....possibly live help or even a help area? I think I 'hear' what you did, and based on my experience with data, databases and 'sites', I suspect your items are 'somewhere' - it's just a matter of finding them.
Adding a sub-cat to a 'primary cat' shouldn't make your item go away - at least in theory. Lemme know if you don't find any 'help' there, and I'll try to go and take a look at my things to see if I can help you out!
Joyce - come back by HiBidder when you get a chance! It's progressing forward and as with all sites - a few issues here/there, but nothing that's slowing things down. I've sold 25 items in the last 20+ days - not PS status, but definitely moving in the right direction. Best of 'sales season' to you!!

Hello, FPD, my friend,
Sorry that I'm not as savvy about other sites the way I am with HB, so I can't help much there.
Hi, Joyce. Nice to meet you. I registered at HB at the end of July and just couldn't deal with the SLOW speed. I went back around the beginning of September and was zooming (and still am) through the pages! Yes, issues are everywhere, as Erin stated but the community works together like no other and truly give one another support and sincerity. If you decide to head back over there, please let us know in the welcome thread and we'll all jump in to help you. :D

Thanks Erin for the offer to help but I've spent hours trying to figure it all out and really think they are gone. Many I found in my feebay ended listings and put most of them onto HiB but looking thru my inventory and also my picture files I know there are many that have evaporated.
My own fault, I never should have kept listing there without resolving the messed up subcategory issue. Live and learn I guess.
Joyce I just love HiB, support can't be beat at any site and I think the site is pretty quick to list at also. Maybe not as quick as blujay or ecrater but they really offer so much more in listing features. I know when I first started there, I thought the site was slow also but not anymore, quick as a wink! LOL
Urban, I must know, do you ever sleep? LOL You are just everywhere but then so is Erin. You two are remarkable. I had to take a break tonite to do the teen battle thing and also to watch the Dancing show. That Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives (if I remember) are all my TV interest. Maybe a game show once in awhile. After this ecrater fiasco, I needed to shut this dang computer OFF. LOL Barbara |

Hi Front Porch! I think that we need a couple of workshops going on so that people like ourselves can figure this stuff out so that it is so frustrating if you know what I mean. You are not alone. I say that we recruit someone. |

Hiya Bays great to see you over here at PSU!! I was thinking more about eCrater last evening, and I do remember when I set up 'there' - it was a tad bit more complex than BluJay - and....I honestly can't remember if I used sub-cats or not! My offer still stands for ya FPD!
Happy Wednesday all.... :D :D We could prolly start a whole forum on teen battles, got a few of my own here!!  :? |
