This is nice to know.
And this isn't yet the beginning.
Once GCO is open to international transactions (buyers and sellers)...and then open their own Google Auctions....
Good bye PP and the evil empire. |

The interesting thing on that chart is the line for "buy.com".
Didn't eBay buy them last year ?? Or am I thinking of another buying site ??
That would be hillarious if I'm right and eBay's own company is sending people to the competition. Of course their site is doing the same thing with all the ads there now.

Ebay bought shopping.com. Horrid place, I tried advertising there for a while (free $$$ through my host), big billing errors, no CS response, had holy heck just closing the darned account.
I'm much more open to the idea of GCO now that I know about the direct invoicing feature. I may institute it as another payment option on my website come spring. I am still going to wait and see what this season shows as far as feedback from buyers and sellers.
I would never be able to use it for international shipments, though, cuz GCO has the same policies as Paypal - you must be able to provide online tracking. Too expensive! |

is this a done deal or still just a hope?
I'm glad to see Google Checkout picking up steam. Time for me to go sign up...soon. lol

| Only a rumor right now, Angels. I would love to see Google start up an auction platform. Would not list their, though, if they restrict listing to accepting payments through GCO (or any other one-pony payment method, either) |

I can say that I would gladly use Googlecheckout if it went international.
I would setup my ecrater store with googlecheckout option today as well as Googlebase
Alot more people use Google then ever visit eBay |

I did notice one striking difference between PP and GCO shipping policies: it's always FOB destination with PP (you have to prove it was delivered, not just shipped). GCO says FOB shipping point (proof of shipment, not delivery) on items up to $250. Shipments valued at over $250, it's FOB destination.
Unfortunately, GCO only accepts online tracking as proof, just like Paypal. PP Pro won't allow international payments, either, so I'm still doing the research for international - I sure get enough international hits and inquiries, I would love to have one set payment method for all international buyers. I have had only 1 or two in the last year that were willing to pay a direct PP invoice and the very expensive Global Express shipping (only way to get international USPS tracking).
'Course, you can always just send something overseas and pray that you have an honest buyer....I guess I just don't have enough faith LOL, cuz that's not for me. |
