Good morning sportsemporium!
The PSUStores are a great value as you get a whole web site and shopping cart in one.
You don't have to know much html to use it and you can choose your template from a template chooser. Check out the demos--Admin Demo and Store Demo to see what it's all about. PSU is a great guy and very helpful. All the store owners are wonderful folks who pop in to help out too!

I see someone beat me to the punch as I was gathering the info I was looking for, I did hear psu stuff is really simple but here is some other info just in case you need it.
I believe Paul from PKC Direct may be able to design something for you, he has done great work for quite a few here but I am not sure though because he has been under the weather lately.

Once you sign up for hosting you will get access to the support forum where you can ask your questions and people can help you with your store.
Before you pay to have someone design your store you should try it yourself also. The psu stores uses joomla templates so if you do a search on the internet for joomla templates you will probably find a existing design that you like. |

With Standard Web Hosting, you would be loading your own web pages and/or shopping cart and updating everything yourself. This is a do it yourself set up.
With the PSU Store (Ecommerce), you get the site already set up. You modify it by choosing a template, entering your information, entering your shipping & payment & tax information and your products. You still do your own work, but the site itself is all set up and the software upgrades are done by PSU. Support is available to help you along.
There is a learning curve with the PSU store, but after the initial learning curve, it gets easier and easier. We have lots of posts on how to get started, including one that's going on right now.

I've thought about opening a PSU store for some time...just haven't done it!
I have a question. I have a very simple web site on Bravenet.com with a domain name. I pay $8.95 a year for the name. If I transfer it to PSU, will the old hosting quit? Do I have to keep paying them to redirect to PSU? My subscription expires in May of '07. |

Hiya PattyPooh!
The old hosting account would have to be closed and you would have to contact bravenet about that. Be sure you have copies of anything you want to keep from over there as they would delete your web space or ask you to delete your files.
The $8.95 you're paying per year for your domain name is to keep your ownership of it and *that* would continue. It should not cost you anything to "point" your domain name at a psu store. The signup email we get from PSU contains info on how to do this.
hope this helps,

You'll need a domain name for sure. I don't know if you have to have it *before* you sign up for the store or not. (I already had mine)
I used godaddy for my domain registration. I think several folks here did. My own humble opinion is they are the best registrar. Just DON'T buy anything else they try to sell you. LOL

Ok I went to signup for a PSU store and I had problems with paying through Paypal. How do I get back in to pay for my store?

Ok...now you have me stumped as I don't have access to that side. If you don't see the paypal button in the ecommerce signup anymore, then hang tight. I'll pm the Admin for ya and he should catch it tonight or tomorrow.
In the meantime, what I would suggest is practicing with the demo admin store. Learn how move around, what things look like, how they work, etc. That way, you'll have a feel for it when you get your store set up. K? :D
