This is a great article that came out today by Leslie Walker from the washingtonpost. powersellersunite was interviewed for this piece :D
EBay's Magic Has Faded But May Be Back
EBay Inc., the Internet juggernaut, seems to have lost its mojo, that special swagger that made it a rocket on Wall Street for six hot years.

Yes, the latest figures on the bottom line show an unbelievable profit margin. Makes you wonder why the fee increase when the fees, afterall, play such a small part of that bottom line.
That and the constant reports of Megs $900,000 plus salary and 1.5M profit share.
Makes it tough to cut those monthly checks when you understand
how much is in the coffers.
Will be interesting to see the Public's reaction to this latest
news.

| With a 60% increase or more in fees across the board for US sellers as well as the money they reported to have for the free month of stores at 15.95 x how many stores in ebay (that they billed before the Q 1 2005 report that is not really money as it will be credited back to the stores subscribers). One has to wonder what other creative accounting techniques ebay uses to pull these things of time and time again. |

Creative accounting? can you spell MCIworldcom...or ..Enron??nah....couldn't happen....ya think? Other companies like AT&T and most recently Microsoft had problems of another type. Pretty sad when 2 companies( Google and eBay) have their hands in 80% of the internet traffic. You can bet some over zealous AG somewhere is salivating.
Companies that become Gods unto themselves usually wind up the spoils of their own arrogance and greed. Its what happens in our free enterprise system; just ask Bill Gates or the guys from Enron.
Did I say free??.....oh yeah...in the US they raise fees so that China can become their next commonwealth with NO FEES ! |

| The China thing pisses me off. I sell fossils and ebay is RAMPANT with fakes from China selling for $1 with $100 shipping. I won't allow people to post legit chinese fossils for sale or trade on my webpage, since for every 1 real chinese fossil out there, there are 1000 fakes. |

| And you know ebay can care less. They make the money off those fakes too. |
