Hello, I sold a bunch of stuff on Yahoo to one woman. Has a good record of +4 for paying. I sent this customer a pay pal bill. It said paid on Pay Pal. I look and no money was put in my account nor was I sent an email. So I look and click around on Pay Pal and it says status: denied. Now this customer, has paid someone on the 15th, but my sale was before that. I don't know how to handle this. I wrote to the customer. No word. I told her the payment had been denied. I never seen anything like this. I contacted Pay Pal with no response yet.

I wanted to know should I wait or terminate the sale? I have not sent the merchandise, and will not till this mess is cleared. But is this sale waiting to clear? Is the credit card being denied? I don't know what to do. Im thinking of terminating the whole thing and relisting. Any ideas?
thank you

If I were in your shoes (and I HAVE been in your shoes before), I would wait... but send another email to the customer explaining your reason.

re-listing right away will just annoy the customer if it turns out this whole thing was just something stupid on PayPal's part - and you will be wide open to a negative feedback.

I'd send an email saying something like:
"just letting you know that for some reason, PayPal has denied your payment. Please communicate with me regarding this matter by 12/22/06, otherwise I will just consider the transaction void and relist the item. However, if I hear back from you we can certainly resolve and continue, as I'm sure this issue with PayPal is something you'd like to remedy."

whoa... wait just a minute - copy and paste!? I didn't give you any intellectual rights! I need a royalty....

of course I'm kidding - cut and paste away! You're also probably right to change the date - I was being generous with the 22nd

LOL, I get upset and come off too tough. Yours was great. Thanks, I did just as you said. No, the 22nd would be perfect, but I was thinking I sent something like that 2 days ago. So Im thinking Im going on some time here. LOL I hope to sell these items. But I wish people would just talk; Lord knows they communicate just fine to complain.
Wish me luck and happy holidays.

LOL NPP - I sometimes wonder if you got some hi-tech software that alerts you via Instant Messenger everytime there is a topic about your favorite company (PayPal) on the net!

I was very careful to say "if" lmao

you and I both are waiting for the day google Checkout is free of bugs (so far 8 out of 10 of my "invoices" were buggy for customers)

I use the Google on Ecrater. I LOVE it. I did have some problems. I wish they made it easier to sign up. I apparently didn't have a little box somewhere hidden, checked, to get winning emails. I had 5 offers on a book! I had one book! So Ecrater was very helpful and helped me out. They had to help me 2 times. So far so good. LOL
I had a complaint with Pay Pal, I was NOT getting confirmation emails. Their response, "it happens." So now I don't trust it and go in and look every day. Brother.
Its nice the google will be free another year too.

I've had sales on BluJay and not on eCrater, but have been there just as long - I wonder if I have the same little box unchecked... where can I find that "little box"?

Now go under google; sign into your account go under settings the tab at the top. Then click preferences on the left you will see this:

Order processing

When I receive a new order... Automatically authorize the buyer's credit card for the full amount of the order.

Automatically authorize and charge the buyer's credit card.

Email me each time I receive an order, cancellation or other transaction.

Now make sure the When I receive a new order. . . . is checked. And then the Email me each time I receive an order is checked. Those two little boxes. I didn't even know about this box. Thats why I got no emails.

Under intergration they gave me this at Ecrater:

https://www.ecrater.com/google/response-handler.php

this should go in that box. Called API callback URL.

I had that very exact same thing happen to me last week. I ALMOST shipped the item out because on the overview page it said PAID. BUT what stopped me was the fact that there was $0.00 fee.
??????????????????

I called PayPal and this is what happened.

I sent a PayPal invoice.
Buyer PAID invoice by using a credit card.
PayPal submitted the amount to the credit card.
CREDIT CARD DENIED PAYMENT for whatever reason out of their many they have.

SO...............THIS IS NOT A PAYPAL PROBLEM.
This is a BUYER problem with a CREDIT CARD problem. Either the buyer is overlimit, gave a false CC #, etc.

I've emailed my buyer and haven't received a response to date. This week is thime to start the Non paying bidder process.

Thank you for telling me this. Because that is what confused me. It said PAID. I thought I better ship. Then I noticed no fees also. I got on the phone but the wait was killing me and I hung up.

Yes, its very confusing. It should not say Paid. It also says Paid on the front of your billing area. Not right.

I also noticed another bill said Paid and no fees. But when I looked into the account history deeper it showed fees taken out and it was paid.
I hope everyone is careful. Something is not right.
