| So I have a website that I'm just kind of using to promote my stores and learn with. I use free hosting for for now because I'm using it to learn with. Is there something I can use to add a blog to the site? |

| probably not for free hosting since free hosting usually does not provide a database |

Joomla has its own blogging capability, but there's no reason you can't use other blogging hosts, like yahoo360, msnspaces, blogger and live journal. They're free too and have alot to offer.
You can link your blog into your store, make banners for your blog, etc.

Most of these sites allow you to modify your space to certain extents. You may want to check each of them out.
The full blogging hosts like blogger, wordpress and the others are probably the most modifiable. I have banners, etc on my blog/s.

At blogger, you do it by modifying the template.

| Blogger and Wordpress.com are good free alternatives. However, if you are looking to build a long-term site and long-term blog I suggest going for paid hosting that makes it easy to add a wordpress blog to your site. Dreamhost works great for that. It's cheap and gets the job done. The only reason I'm against going with the free blogging platforms is that those platforms are now filled with spam and so your blog is more likely to be seen as spam and also, when you want to move your blog to your own hosting and domain, you can't just redirect all the old traffic you built up to your new site/blog. Thus, in the long term, if your blog does well the free solution will cost you traffic when you upgrade. |
