Hi kygary02,
Sounds like they did go under... But just recently came back.
A quick write-up on BidPay's history can be found on WIKI here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BidPay
I'm sure they left a lot of people hanging when they 1st went under...
Ebay banned them but also just recently reinstated them. I'm under the assumption they are letting them back in don't view them as a real competitor to their Cash Cow money maker PayPal, unlike Google Checkout who they won't let in, because they do view them as a serious contender (Got the programmers, cross promotion capability, name recognition, and the very Deep pockets). This sort of gives eBay cover because they can say PayPal isn't a 100% monopoly on eBay because we allow competing payment escrow sites on our site.
Cheers,

| When you use Bidpay, it's the customer who uses it and sends a Western Union Money Order, right? |

They don't deal with money orders anymore since they aren't owned by Western Union. They work just like Google Checkout by transferring the money to your bank within 4-5 days.
Their fees are kinda pricey though, 50 cents + 2.5%, to get the same service as you can get through Google free this year. |
