PETA decries eBay's continued practice of permitting the sale of live animals
PETA reports that it has continued in its effort to stop eBay from allowing the sale of live animals and animal parts on its auction website, but eBay has not budged. Instead, the auction giant has allowed these sales to continue. Thus, according to PETA, eBay is allowing animals to be tortured and killed mercilessly.
eBay has allowed the sale of items ranging from Akita puppies to lynx feet on its website. In fact, eBay has even allowed sellers to post eggs for cockfighting roosters despite the fact that it is a federal crime to allow roosters to be sold across state lines. eBay allowed me to place my tropical fish for sale, as long as they were 100% aquatic they allow it.
Now a dog I had no idea that dogs were allowed to be sold on eBay.
The way I look at it, if the dog is not a puppy mill dog so what people should be allowed to sell those types of animals on there as long as the seller can insure the properly delivery of the animal.

Despite our personal preferences and beliefs - as long as eBay is abiding by the letter of the law there is little that can be done to eBay itself. The Seller, on the other hand, has a different standard to uphold and the question is whose responsibility is it to assure that the Seller is abiding by all the Laws in the States to where he is selling? And does he have a license to have hunted the lynx for the "feet" in the first place?
Myself, an unabashed animal lover. I love my dog more than most people I have met along the path of life. But, I do not hold my standard up for others to meet. Everyone to their own.
Its not the fact that animals or animal parts are being sold on eBay. Its that, in some cases, they are circumnavigating the law and eBay does not feel the need to intervene and assure the public that they also have the same concerns.
Its coming down to National Registration people. So be careful what you ask for. The Streamlined Tax Act is going to wipe away everyones current 'rights' on the online platform and you will all have to abide, strictly, by 50 States individual application of the rules.
So, what is it that you really want here? Mull it over very carefully in the big picture as the answer is probably not what you really can live with? No matter how many Lynx feet are on eBay (though its better than the string of human ears I was asked to appraise when I worked for Yahoo Experts a few years back - they were a trophy from the Vietnam war. I never did get Yahoo to get that appraisal request off the board).
So what is it that you feel eBay should do and what part of the TOS is being violated exactly?

You guys should visit www.taobao.com
They are giving eBay a run for their money in China.
They sell dogs and other animals, and doing quite well at it, in fact I'm trying to buy a couple of Pomeranians from China as we speak, if I could only bridge the language barrier, I think I would do well on that site.
In fact business is so good at taobao that they offered eBay a buy out in the Asian market.
We only focus on the US market, if eBay loses their foot hold in China, what happens as savvy rich Russians start to take out eBay in Europe.
Right now the Chinese market is the market where everyone should focus on, they are an up and coming country, with loads of OUR money to spend. |

We all are here for the same reason.
By the way I know quite a few "Rich Russians" how do you think I get my Palladium at spot and not 20 bucks over like most other dealers charge?

Now hold on here you guys! Far from an English major.
I was not able to read going on into the third grade. With me bout to be put into a Special Learning class my father went to seek the advice of his college days mentor and head of the college he now taught at.
John Tullock was the President of the College. I used to go down to his house every day after school as the man had an enormous garden and I loved to garden from a very young age. My father ambled on down and announced to John that I was going to be put into these special classes and John looked up, perplexed, and asks if she is that 'bad' how come, at age 6, she is doing 7th- 10th grade math problems in her head and coming up with the answers? My father, took a double take, and then he and John got to seriously chatting.
The problem was a type of dyslexia - which in the 50's was not dealt with and all problem children were sent of to special classes and lost in the system. So John had an idea and took me under his wing. Three months later, with his system in hand, I was well on the way and I never stopped. There is not a day goes by that I do not think of John Tullock. He is just one of those teachers in life you never forget.
So, no, not an English major at all. Not even close. A carpenter by trade who went back to college later in life for an engineering degree. Twenty years in the antique business and here I am. But I do type a 100 words a minute and the words just topple out onto the paper. What can I say? :D

I could not type fast enough in a chat room to even say hello since I could never find that darn H.
Now I can type about 100-120 WPM with my eyes closed. =D |
