I was just curious about your opinion on this. Who do you think will be most affected by the change? New sellers or established sellers? Sellers that sell whole lot of low priced items or not so many high priced items? Do you think any particular type of items will be more affected than others? What about auction style items vs BIN items?

Immediately? The small sellers.

Longer term, the buyers who can no longer find the neat "It" that they always used to come to eBay to find.

Eventually I think all the pot-shots taken at their own feet will topple eBay as a whole.

And all of us small sellers & buyers that had been on eBay for the better part of a decade will say "Hey, remember when there was this cool auction site ...?"

Right now? Small sellers. Me.

Later on? Everyone using Ebay. Because with the small sellers gone (and they *WILL* go sooner or later) things will change.
It's just a question of when and no longer if.
Too many alternatives available. Viable too, this time. Certainly less nasty. That counts for something too.
It's a snowballeffect.
The avalanche has been building for years, it seems.
And now Ebay threw a firecracker down the mountain...

Let me think about that as a site owner...

Now... first your name... If KevinatGrannys finds you... you'll be his new best friend... or him yours... just feed him donuts and he'll follow you anywhere.

Ok, as a site owner, and one who has benifitted from this ...

By the feedback rating... all sellers will be affected. They will be at the mercy of more of feedback hostage.

All sellers are effected by the changes in rates.. even the power sellers ... regardless of what others have said. I have been in contact with several who have signed up at PH regarding this and the answer is the same... "I'm tired of having to charge nearly double to sell at ebay then I charge on my own website, just to cover all the fees." And this from sellers with over 6000 99.8%.

The buyers will loose because I specialize in estate sale items, many of which are one of a kind items. No longer will they be able to find that lost lost family bible listing their relatives back to the late 1700s because i will not be listing items any longer.

The sellers like me who will have to shut down their business.

It makes one wonder if all the new changes are really be made to get rid of all the old time sellers. Its the same strategy used at my dad's unionized plant. Just make things tougher and tougher until the old blood leaves and the nice new whipping boys come in to work for the company. The company ends up loosing in the end because the old timers have more knowledge in what they flush down the toilet than the entire management put together. But hey what does management care about the company anyway - its all about getting the big bonuses before the company goes belly up.
