Hi Sharon, I always email my Ebay customers and let them know about my other 2 store sites. I have gained some customers that way. We are waiting for Ebay to cancel our account. We have a "BAD" customer rating of 97.8%. We received a negative a few weeks ago from a buyer. He was from Canada and we do not ship international. He asked if he could bid and we said no. But he bid anyway and then left bad feedback. Ebay refused to remove it. A lot of sellers with good feedback are being harrassed. I think they're trying to get rid of the small sellers. Anyway I want to get away from them. Also if you put your items in GoogleBase it helps. Linda

Cabin - Google Base is a free service provided by Google which allows anyone to upload files that are stored by Google and become searchable to the world. I'm fairly certain that a wide variety of files can be uploaded (that's what it sounds like when I read Google's info), though on this forum the type of file we are always talking about is an item for sale.

Products uploaded to Google Base are fed by Google into the Google Products search. There may be other ways that items get into Google Products, but Google Base is the one available to anyone.

Google Products is a specialized Google Search (different from a 'regular' Google Web search) that can be accessed from the google.com page through the links at the very top left of that page. There are other specialized Google Searches (such as legal documents or news) that can also be accessed through those links. Do some exploring, it can be quite interesting.

I have just found out that even a very specific Google Products search will NOT return all available matches, as when I chose to filter by a particular store/seller (at the bottom of a products search page), more items showed up that matched my search than showed up in the first set of results. I am beginning to believe that NO Google search is comprehensive no matter how specific ones search terms are.

Google Base appears to be a good service. It is incorporated in Zen Cart, which I am using on my website. I just hit the upload button about once a week and the rest is automatic.

Also you might check out www.mywebb.yahoo.com. This is a Yahoo beta site, where you can "bookmark" your listings. I have done this for a few months now; and the Yahoo bots visit my site regularly, along with Google. As I speak, there are 8 "spiders" on my website. In mywebb.yahoo you can also "invite" others, which allows them to view your bookmarks and vice versa. You need in "invitation" in order to view other people's bookmarks.

Also, I understand that having a blog, which highlights your products, is helpful; and updating it regularly is even better.

Hope this is helpful to somebody.

Well...they are sure doing their level best to get rid of folks. Since they have been pretty good at what they have attempted in the past, I am sure they will make a roaring "success" out of this. Keep the faith...lol.
