PostPosted: Sun Oct 05, 2008 3:45 pm   Post subject: Oh yes ! Onista - A New Social Marketplace #1  Back to top

I and my friends built this new marketplace called Onista

Onista is an auction-less social marketplace where people can buy and sell products. Onista is an amalgam of eBay, PriceLine, LendingTree, Alibaba.com, and LinkedIn. Onista allows instant price negotiation and enables buying products without searching.

Here is quick summary of Onista Features,

1. Auction-less format
2. Instant Real-time price negotiation resulting in Instant Gratification for consumer
3. Buyers can buy products without searching and hunting for products using Request for Quotes and Price Quotes model like Alibaba.com
4. Free listings for sellers
5. Sellers get open access to qualified sales leads and targeted product placements
6. Support for multiple payment systems (Paypal, Amazon etc..)
7. A Social Network to build trading communities and mitigate the propensity for fraud

Please visit http://www.onista.com and enjoy the Onista Experience.

To understand more about Onista, please do not forget to watch our Demo Video by clicking icon Demo Video on right-bottom corner of Onista index page. Alternatively you can also watch this video at http://www.vimeo.com/1594866

What we are really looking for now is,
1. Your feedback as user so we can improve our site
2. Product Listings, so we have products on site to attract buyers
3. Help to spread the word

Thanks in advance,

Hi there Joe from Onista - best of luck with your site & your concept.

One of my "things" is finding out how a site shows up in Google Search. I see you might want to make some adjustments in this area.

http://www.google.com/search?q=site:onista.com

compare to (for example)

http://www.google.com/search?q=site:atomicmall.com

See also PSU Topic Just what do sites provide against what they should???

You might want to "secure" your registration page, as well.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I will look into it soon.

Any advice on where I can request sellers to list some products on our site?

Well - here is a good place Smile

You might google for ebay forum and anti-ebay forum and power seller forum. I can suggest you try pheebay.com However, look at your competition and see how to set yourself apart from the crowd. Visibility of items to buyers to obtain sales is the seller's #1 concern, then fees and then ease of use. I'm pretty certain I'm right about that. Advertising is something I hear many request, but IMO search visibility drives everything else in the off ebay world.

Thanks a lot. I shall try that. Good to know that fees matters to sellers. Also by "search visibility" you meant search from Google/Yahoo or search on marketplace itself?

Thanks

I meant on web search engines - and now all the other bookmarking sites (like oodle). However site search is very important to me at least (I'm a buyer). If you build it, they might come, but they have to be able to FIND it. Very Happy
