Hello everyone. I am so pleased to be here and hope together we sellers can find a new auction site where the seller is treated equal and fair.

What the hell happened to ebay? I took some time off from selling but when I returned I was sickened by the new rules and regulations and feedback. I will admit that my last auction was a bit slow but I think I did okay when you consider the state of the economy.

However........the buyers are rude, shrewd and downright hostile. They are getting so many good deals out there right now and know that we the seller have no rights anymore.

I will share with you my "last straw". I sell comics and I had sold an item to a buyer that had obviously outbid the "complainer". When the winner backed out (with my permission) I offered the item to the next highest bidder. He wrote me back wanting to know why I had not reported so and so for not paying and HE informed ebay of this person not paying and reported it as fraud. I could hardly believe it. I could hardly believe it. I had no dispute with this person because they were buying the item as a gift and did not know at the time that he already had the item. All in all I had to block him from further auctions because he is a real pain in the ass.

THE CHANGES AT EBAY HAVE SCREWED THE SELLER BIG TIME AND YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD WANT US TO BE HAPPY AND SATISFIED BECAUSE WITHOUT US THERE WOULD BE NO MERCHANDISE FOR THEM TO MAKE MONEY ON.

I feel better now. Thank you for letting me vent. NOW...where do we honest sellers go now for comics, casino chips and collectibles? I am done with ebay.
I look forward to your replies.

Lisa

Glad to have you aboard Lisa! Very Happy

There's a lot of information HERE reference altenatives to ebay. It'll take a while to read through all of it and determine which site is best for your product.

Hi Lisa! Welcome to PSU. I don't know anything about where casino chips might work out, but I can point you towards www.AtomicAvenue.com for comics. The new www.BookAuctionz.com might be worth a look. Collectibles might do well several places, though no place has the traffic of eBay for all-in-one-place listing nor for auctions, though many are growing.

You have a great adventure ahead of you. Most long-time members agree that ones own website is the best choice in the long run, and some suggest OFF the web sales to help move inventory. Everyone says to use a variety of sites as it is hard to know which will be the best for which product.

There are many helpful links on the left and at the top of the page. Spend some time browsing around, and feel free to ask as most folks here are very happy to help.

Hi Lisa,
You are very welcome aboard !!!
You could find a lot of information on the PSU.
I am ex-ebay member also and I'm learning a lot here.

You touched on the interesting point: beyond of the idiot new rules and the horrible treatment from ebay to honest and serious small/medium sellers, the buyers are very very very rude there! Everything changed on ebay. Changed to worse !

The way without ebay is hard, but not impossible.
If I could help you, please let me know.

Hello and welcome.

eBay has put the screws to every seller they simply suck!
Ebay needs to learn a lesson and at this point I wouldn't sell anything on ebay.

I am partial to Prestostore. I've had very good sales through my Prestostore site (www.redhatdog.com). It is a very good storefront that gets good exposure and you get to make it yours plus you get a domain name. It easily allows you to add GCO and Paypal plus you can integrate shipping API's and don't have to be a computer genius to do it. It's worth checking out.

Hi I am new here too. Tired ..sick and tired of Ebay..they are not fair nor do they treat everyone equally. They play dumb and blind when they want to..they dont care when you try to ask questions..and they feel they dont need to talk to you as they tell you the only way to get a hold of them is by email..then they send you genetic answers.. I am just sick of them..sick of them!

I was just roaming the forums and ran across your comment.

"the seller is treated equal and fair"

nothing about business is equal or fair. the best you can hope for from businesses you work with is honesty and that legal agreements be clear.

Hi CS..thats a very good comment..and I agree..What I was referring to..is more that I would love to be able to be in an environment where everyone as a "tenant" is held under the same rules across the board.

For example Ebay. Some sellers get away with some things..while others do not. They say "well, they just have not been caught yet..once they get turned in..." But, they have been numerous times..and nothing is done..and while on the phone, I make them aware of it..and NOTHING is done..so I want a place where there is equality for everyone..does not matter if you are a power seller or a little guy..RULES apply to everyone..regardless..of..and yes ..of course to me HONESTY is the core of doing business.. Smile

Lisa, I left eBay as of October 20th and refuse to sell or buy anything on their site.
I have had several sales on Amazon and have listed quite a bit on ebid.net, but have only sold 4 auctions there. All comic book auctions, but very slow. I'm looking for another place to list comics while keeping ebid auctions up. They don't charge anything unless the items sell and they automatically relist everything up to 10 times.
The biggest issue with not selling on eBay is that you will probably have to sell on more than one site, but by all means don't go back to eBay it's only going to get worse there!
Welcome to life without them!
