We just broke past the 86K mark and are closing in on 4,000 members....very nice...I have been getting 1-2 sales a day almost every day for the last 2 weeks....(suprisingly, non on Cyber Monday although, based on the invoice numbers, I saw that over 200 sales were made on the site in a 48 hour period between November 30th and December 2nd).
So will we be up to 100K and 5000 members by Christmas?
My guess is we hit 100K listings on December 14th and 5000 members on December 19th.
Anyone else care to play seer and make their predictions? |

Ok, I've heard about Squidoo Lenses before, but until recently I really had no idea what they were. I always *meant* to check out squidoo.com, but it was just one of those things that I never seemed to make time for.
Fast forward to Nov. 29th: Brenda from Brenda's Visual Memories decided to make a lens on Squidoo.com and advertise it here in the forums:
http://atomicmall.proboards50.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1033&page=1#8936
Needless to say I was extremely impressed, and the positive comments left by users made it just that much better. I started thinking it would be a great tie-in for a contest! So here we go....
Announcing:
Atomic Mall's 1st (annual?) Squidoo Lens competition!
Rules:
- Competition is open to all currently registered Sellers @ Atomic Mall, except friends, family and employees of Atomic Mall.
- All entries must be submitted into our forum contest thread before 12/31/08.
- Lens must be centrally themed around your Storefront @ Atomic Mall, and must contain a link to your storefront page and/or the AtomicMall.com home page.
- One entry per member. Multiple account holders may only enter once.
- All entries will be judged and voted on by registered community forum members between January 1 and January 10, 2009. Each judge may use whatever criteria they deem appropriate, whether it be visual appeal, writing style, overall content, creativity, etc. You'll simply be choosing based on which lenses "stand out" to you, even if it's just because "they're way cool man".
- You MAY vote on your own lens, but only one vote per IP address please. We will be monitoring IP addresses, so no cheating!
- Ties will be decided by coin-toss. Leah (soccerfreak) will be the designated coin-tosser.
- We reserve the right to modify or add to these rules during the contest if deemed necessary to maintain contest integrity.
Now the good part: Prizes!
The top 3 finishers will be awarded these prizes:
1st place: A $200 AtomicPass Gift Certificate to use at any and all Atomic Mall store(s). Buy anything you want from any AM merchant(s) up to $200 combined total, and we'll pay the bill.
2nd place: An instant $50 account credit. This credit can be applied to listing upgrades, image inserts or final sale fees. It's just like money, honey!
3rd place: A free month of selling @ Atomic Mall. That's right: no final sale fees for an entire month, between Jan 11 and Feb 11, 2009. Depending on how much you sell, this might even be better than the first place prize!
So there you go kids, let's get the party started!! I want to see some killer Squidoo lenses. Be creative, and be VERBOSE! Remember, content rules.
;D

I love atomic mall - signed up at the Cartwright place just to hold my seller name. Listed 1 item. Sent two emails to customer support for help. THEY ARE WORSE THAN FEEBAY. I did not get even a canned response to them. So my 1 item can sit there forever all alone and neglected, because their customer support is a joke.
At AM, MZ would have been on those questions in a second. I truly think the man never sleeps. AM rocks, no doubt about it. Love the bells and whistles, they also impress buyers. Finally, somebody got it together! Thanks, Mike. |

Haven't sold a thing at AM and only a handful of hits.
I did notice one of my listings came up on like page 3 or 4 of Google shopping.
So that's a good sign.
Speaking of hits, is there a way to turn that feature off so others don't see it?
Oh BTW congratulations of 90 K and almost 4000 members.
Maybe it's time to talk about a co-op advertising program to get the word out?
PPC ads radio and maybe some print? |

Really? We're having record sales, despite the awful economy, and first-time sellers are popping up every day. In fact, the recipient of our latest Outstanding Seller trophy has made over 100 sales in the short time he's been with us. Let's see if we can fix that...what's your seller name @ AM so I can check out your storefront?
It also helps to add your store link to your posts.

Yep:

Thanks! 4033 and 90,981 as I type this. |

Well I do have my items at AM a few dollars higher than at the website.
Someone's gotta pay those fees. lol
Thanks for the heads up on the hit counters.
As far as putting a link into discussion forums.
No way, to many nasties from the past
and actully one of them is on your site now too.
Was NARED from eBay about 8 times. lol
Real jerk to his customers and also was e mailing my customers and doing all kinds of auction interference,
bogus reporting of my listings, e mailing me making threats and so on.
Real piece of work. |

Hi xxpman...you can PM Mike the site and he will keep it confidential as well as telling him what your store is so he can give you tips...
Noone is claiming or implying that Atomic Mall will help you break sales records and have us dancing this Christmas...because it wont...I'm not going to build up false expectations in anyone...I'm happy so far this Christmas but it isnt because of AM...my sales elsewhere are paying off because of investments and moves I made 2-3-4-5-6-7 8-9-10 months ago...what myself and many others are finding out with AM is that we are making some sales whereas we didnt at any other alternative and what AM gives us is hope....I dont list at AM because of what it is doing for me today....but what I feel it will do for me in the future.... |

I'm struggling with sales too. Granted, sports memorabilia is not as in demand in these economic times, but I have seen decent sales elsewhere. I sold an item within a few hours after starting to bulk upload my listings, which got me kinda excited. But almost 4,000 listings later no new sales.
Over the weekend I checked both Google and Google Products and was finding at least some of my items quite easily.
It is kinda cool to have an item featured today though.
I love AM and really hope to build a presence here. It might just be that OOAK long-tail inventory won't work as well here as things you can list in quantities and that have a wider appeal.
It's great to read the success stories here. |
