I just did a search on eBay "itmes sold" for Michael Jackson, and found several folks selling .com domains. One of them sold for $19,000,000.
Wonder how long PayPal will hold onto those funds? |

How could they sell them, as they are not a physical item, is it not just like an e-book? |

You can sell a domain name. People do it everyday. They sell it and then transfer it over to the buyer. Go to godaddy and you will see they have auctions there for people who are selling and buying domain names. A lot of people make money from just from buying and selling domain names. They also can make money in the meantime by parking it and putting affiliate ads on the page it's parked on for which they get paid.
Some buyers like to buy ones that have been around for a bit because the domain may have had some traffic. In the case of the Michael Jackson domains on ebay though I see most of them were created on the day he died or the day after so they are all new. I guess some fast thinking domain sellers jumped on it when they heard he died. |

There was no Michael Jackson domains sold for 19 million. There was one offered for 19 million, but no one bought it.
Most of these domains are of little or no value - many offered at .99 with no bids.
Several of the MJ domains appear like they went for a lot of money - but either the seller or buyer was bogus. Zero FB buyers bidding $10 million for a domain worth maybe $20. The domains themselves weren't very good, and would not be worth 1/1000 of what they "allegedly" sold for.
By far, the best domain I saw for sale was michaeljackson.org - which went for $22.50
I doubt any of the MJ domains that were on ebay selling for more than $200 were completed. The sellthru on these were like 2%.
There were a few "good" ones - but most went for less than $50 each. "weremembermichaeljackson.com" went for $101. |

That's what I thought too. I did see 3 completed listings that said they were sold one for 21 million one for 19 million and one for 650,000 but that doesn't mean there was an actual transaction that was completed. I mean that's an awful lot of money even if it's a Michael Jackson domain. Also your right some of them weren't even any good looks to me like they were just throwing anything together containing his name or one of his song titles. |

I know you can buy and sell them, but you can also buy and sell e-books, just not on ebay as they are not a physical item.
You can no more touch a web domain than you can an e-book.
Just more ebay double standards I suppose. |

Oh I see what you mean. I was not aware that ebooks can't be sold on ebay I guess something I never checked into. Didn't realize you were refering to double standards that ebay has. |

Double standard only because of the listing and FVF they'll collect. If the buyer really pays up. |

Ebooks on CD or DVD can be sold on the Bay within policy.
Never sold a domain, but perhaps it comes with a legal document of some type? If so, the domain document would be treated possibly as an ebook on CD or DVD on the Bay.
Anyone know what legal proof, if any, is provided when consideration is made for a domain name or when it is actually transferred? |

Surprising how many people are putting so much effort in MJ, yet they ignore hundreds of millions of starving people around the world. LOL, I can image Jesus on judgement day saying "yes sir we have a spot right here in heaven for you as you showed courage and went and bought MJ CD's after he died! Rock on!" |
