Maybe several dealers realized what
a dead end OLA is and finally cut ties.

Wagglepop's gone

Tazbar's closed up shop

Maybe OLA will be joining the roster of
failed auction/sales sites before too long
(ok, make that defunct sites -- it's already
a failure as far as its performance).

WOW! Indeed, OLA did lose a lot of listings... almost 190 thousand. That's a very significant loss.

I wonder what's up with that? Since the drop was so sudden, it seems like a single seller bailed out. But, did a single seller have 188 thousand listings?

That's a huge percentage drop. Shocked

Ironically enough, OLA made an announcement today on the "OLA News" page that Q1 sales have increased 185%.

I picked a random date (Tuesday, June 30, 2009) and did a little "number crunching"... (just for old times sake).

TOTAL SALES: $12593.77 ...(10 times what it was a year ago)

One single buyer spent $9380.85 on this day ...(accounting for 74% of the total sales) and leaving $3212 for the rest of the OLA sellers, but if you factor out the $1700 that went to the latest "sports" spam artist, you're only left with $1512... almost exactly what it was a year ago.

...If it wasn't for one or two buyers and sellers, OLA would not be showing any improvement at all.
All of my numbers are based on the OLA "What's Sold" pages.

Another great job - thanks for the info. Since it is from their own page, I wonder if they will again say your numbers are wrong.

Maybe just maybe they took down all of CML auctions. The ones that were just straggling along.

I noticed that there is a cardman on Bonanzle the other night. He may have not gone back to OLA. They dropped 52% last week and nobody could say why.

Many members are revamping their listings during the slower summer months. The summer is traditionally slow and a good time to clean out ANY eCommerce store.

With the Welcome Home Sale just around the corner, more and more listings are currently being 'scheduled' versus put up immediately.

Between the two, the cleaning up of stores and the scheduling of classic auction items for the upcoming sale, that should explain some of it.

edited to add:

And I wouldn't take the Auction Site Count tables here at PSU as gospel... as we all know, from April Fools Day, those numbers are easily manipulated.

Summer cleaning for half a year? Hmmmmmmmmm

Ok update time its now 7/4/09 and the numbers of listings are really way down on OLA there at 359,034. Can anybody explain this?

1/7/09 - 594,555
7/4/09 - 359,034

A drop of 235,521 (60%)

Summer cleaning still going on? As of today 7/20/09 listings are now down to 327,000. From 350,000 last time I posted the figures.

The welcome home sale is from August 2nd thru the 9th, will be interesting to keep a close look on the numbers during that time frame.
