I know this is an old thread, but it fits my situation the best. I think once anyone is "Suspended" under Ebay's new "house cleaning" effort can pretty much kiss their account goodbye forever. I've been trying for 2 years now without success. I get the same response everytime about this BS of"we have reviewed your account....blah, blah, blah". I am a disabled Vietnam Veteran who counted on the extra income I got from my ebay sales to make ends meet. That seems to mean nothing to ebay however. Sorry for dragging up this old discussion, but I appreciate this website.

Have you tried any of the alternatives, just a thought, rather than banging your head against a brick wall.

Plus the fact ebay do seem to be using those regulations and a lot of other changes to remove sellers and items they no longer want, so even if you get back on you may not stay on.

It was a response to my request from February 2009 for re-instatement. That's not bad. It only took 4+ months to answer me back.

On Griff, wait a day or two, and email him again.

I just got an email from your contact Griff. He in turn handed my request over to someone named Nathan Gilbert that emailed me back a denial stating the same false, unfounded and half-truth reasons they gave for the original susupension. In short Ebay REFUSES to reinstate my account. So I guess there ISN'T any life after an Ebay Suspension after all. Not if every single request keeps getting turned over to the same couple of people time after time after time.

OK!

Now I know that it appears glum. But, now you're getting a response... that's good actually. And, eBay hasn't responded to the BBB yet, and the BBB hasn't gotten back to you yet.

So, my suggestion now is to write to Griff again, politely, and ask him to look into the situation again. Mention the email you received from Nathan Gilbert, and reiterate that you're dissatisfied with Nathan's response. As before, if Griff doesn't immediately respond, wait a bit, and email him again.

Inform Griff that you feel that your particular case has "fallen through the cracks", and that you feel that you deserve an actual review of the facts.

Tell Griff that you're willing to jump through the hoops, and that you want someone to seriously reconsider your appeal. Tell Griff that you want to work with eBay in an effort to reinstate your account, and that you don't think that your case is being given serious consideration. Ask him to look into it further.

Whether you like, or agree to eBay's insanity is immaterial... you need to agree to it to proceed. Let Griff know that you're willing, able, and prepared to abide by all of eBay's policies.

In all of this, remember one thing... ensure that none of your emails are vindictive or accusatory. Be factual, concise, and unemotional. It's key that you make no demands.

Learn a new word... sticktoitiveness. Smile

Understand that this will be a slow process, and that you will need to be methodical.
Remember... I initially told you that this would take a while... it will. Stick with it if you want this reinstatement.

Retain Nathan Gilbert's email address, as well as others you may receive from other eBay representatives. Some representatives will eventually begin to contradict what another has stated. When that happens, you can then point those contradictions out. That's when the ball really gets rolling.

There is light at the end of the tunnel... really.
Good luck DavesWorld56! Cool

Ok. I emailed him once again. Nathan Gilbert was pretty adamant that I had no prayer of having my account reinstated. We'll see. Thanks.

By the sound of it, this is just a case of badgering them until they get too sick to argue?

Seems an odd way to run things.

I've been badgering since early 2008. So it must take a lot for them to get sick of me. Of course as I say when it is the same 3 or 4 people answering you every time then of course they're going to give the same answer every time. That's why I though maybe sciencefare's idea of contacting Griff might get different results. However all he did is turn the request over to one of those very same people. And I got the very same reason for denial as he's been giving me for over a year now.

I know that it seems hopeless and pointless. But, you asked for assistance, and I'm providing it. I asked that you be patient, and stay the course.

As I said, it will take time. Cool

I realize that. I was just answering hotandvintage's comment about badgering. My point was NO. Badgering hasn't helped either. That was all I was saying.

This isn't a fight I just started fighting this month. I've been fighting with this since early last year. So perhaps you might see my point of view, and know that I have IN FACT been sticking to it. It's just after more than a year of this it is getting frustrating. Yes I appreciate your help, and I AM in fact trying it out.

It IS discouraging though to see that so far I've gotten the same ole response from the same ole person. I'm sticking it out though, and will wait to see what results the BBB can get out of eBay. I'll also wait to see if Griff can help me out other than to just turn my request over to Nathan again who has made his opinion pretty clear many many times over the last 18 months.

I am or should I say was the UK's coins category number seller with 6000 positives and 99.9% positive, that's only due to 1 negative being left that ebay refused to remove, but that is merely small fry compared to some of the experiences I have had. We are members of the (BNTA) British Numismatic Trade association which ebay actually asked to help them police the category and I write articles in magazines and books on the subject. We have been members of ebay since 2002 and have worked hard both inside and outside to build one of the highest reputations in the business. Sorry for the self praise but I am trying to set the scene and show no one is safe on ebay no matter how good you try to be.

Although not previously suspended for it we have had issues with listing removed for VERO violations for images we hold the right to show from the British Royal Mint. We have had too many incidents of fraudulent buyers to mention all of which ebay fail to act on. One court case due to ebay providing the wrong address details, did you know that sales records do not update if buyer changes their details on ebay? Very weak account management despite being a platinum seller, they have no power what so ever, not to mention a whole host of other issues over the years which are getting worse.

Yesterday morning I woke to find a MC104 NC suspension notice sitting in my intray for:

'Our records show that you have applied for Final Value Fee credits on numerous listings when the buyers paid for the items.'

We now have no access to our account what so ever including sold items which have been paid for and need dispatch, the messaging system which blocks us from contacting buyers to tell them everything is ok. All 300 items have been stopped with all bidders being informed that we are no longer a register user, just imagine how the people who are waiting for thousands of pounds worth of items to arrive feel today? We have lost the right to all sales made not yet paid for as they have all been released from their contracts and fees are still payable.

I called ebay yesterday lunchtime but our account manager is off until Monday but was promised a urgent call back which never came. Whatever happens tomorrow when we talk to ebay will not undo the damage done to our reputation.

In case you are interested the allegation is completely false and is verifiable through their own system?

I know people talk about suing ebay but I shall be talking to my lawyer tomorrow and making sure this ends up on the CO desk. I shall let you know what happens.

PostPosted: Sun Jul 05, 2009 4:24 pm Post subject:  Re: Unfair Account Suspension on eBay #90 Back to top

Exactly my situation. They claim I was suspended due to numerous late deliveries, but 90% of those late deliveries were due to ebay Suspending my account 3 times in 8 months for false VERO Claims. One claim even came from a lier who claimed he was a well-known celebrity that had been deceased for 22 years, and eBay still took their word for it and temporarily suspended my account.

All 3 times (even though I proved all VERO allegations as false) I was ONLY able to get my account restored by signing one of those stupid forms promising to never again sell copyrighted materials. Even though I had proven that I HADN'T sold copyrighted materials in the first place. It seems eBay needs some major overhauling of the Safety & Trust Department. Now this Nathan Gilbert won't restore my account because I tried to point out the facts I just desribed above. He says I have shown no remorse in my illegal actions, and therefore he does not feel comfortable restoring my account. Geesh.

So anyway. Using sciencefare's suggestions I had to lie, and admit guilt that never really existed. All to try and get my account restored to sell on eBay. This sciencefare is OUR frustration that unless you personally have been through you have no clue as to why we're discouraged. But hey. I appreciate your help, and I'll "stick to it", and see what happens.
