MadI registered around July,05. I was shopping for items (>$100) for a retirement project. Due to my career(pilot) I held back from entering auctions because travel kept me away from the internet and I couldn't stay on top of auctions. Within 10 days, got two "spoof" emails from "EBAY".Forwarded them to ebay. Ebay confirmed they were bogus. Retired in Oct,05 and on Oct23,tried to bid on my first ever auction. I was denied access, said my PW was not good and my pesonal data was different from what they had on file. I have lived here at my same home since 1980. Something was certainly wrong. Customer service is a joke and non responsive. After 29 emails from customer service since Oct 24, all the same thing, and fearing I.D. theft/fraud, I filed a complaint with FTC today. May be a waste of cyberspace but it felt good. Still wanna buy something.

Welcome to psunite Max!
Sorry to hear of your troubles at ebay but the CS response is typical....

If you cannot seem to resolve the issue with that particular site, you might see if you can sign up under another user name....Happens all of the time to new inexperienced users....

Glad to have you aboard! Smile

Max says "Customer service is a joke and non responsive."

Is it me or maybe I've been given a false impression by eBays' balance sheet. It indicates that they have 8100 employees...........so............wheres the customer service

Max THANK YOU & A BIG HUG!

It is good to see someone report to the FTC because the FTC is one of our most important tools in actually fixing what is broke.

So many people don't understand how important that forgotten little report becomes, when it is in a file full of similar little reports from a few dozen different people.

Hello Time and Again;

Sorry I didn't get back to you on your forced exit from ebay but as I said earlier I get busy with other things and just can't post as much as I would like.

If you want to get a website up there are some inexpensive host that have templates which can get you up and running in just a few days.

I wouldn't recommend "Brave Net" as they seem to have a bunch more subscribers than they have CS. You might take a look at: www.directnic.com I think you can get a site up and going for app. $30.00 including you domain name. If I can help I will be glad to work something out in between all the other stuff.

Hello D. D.

As I said before, I don't think I would try "Brave Net" there are some user on their forums which seem to be just a little, well, lets say, unhappy with their hosting.

At the moment I have a site parked at www.directnic.com which cost me $15.00 a year. They have several plans which are not very expensive.

If you have a domain name in mind go to their site and check to see if it is available. If so, you can register it for $15.00 with a CC and you have access to a certain amount of web space and e-mail addresses. The web space has adds placed on them but it's free and if you are starting out it just might be something you want to look at. If I can help I will do all I can in between showers.

Well - DTD and others ----

if you first just want to "play" to see if you can build it and manage it (content/look/feel), you can go to Ewisoft for both free and pay-for web site builders...They're easy to use.

I'm not certain if they offer hosting or not (used my IP for that), but if I can go and build something ---- you can too! I was (and still am) a complete numpty, and actually used this to build mine.

They have forums and I've never posted - but been able to find my answers when needed by doing a search.

I use Bravenet for my counters (free) - never explored their hosting at all.

Best of luck to you all - Very Happy Very Happy

Guys does it start with: ok>>>>>>
Park your domain name here.. then>>>
(one question.. can you use like a paid
host (deadzoom, photo bucket, Nucite)
Do you HAVE to use your own FTP??
to also show your pics on your web page?
Seee....I really know NOTHING.., but then
I never did claim to "know it all"... Laughing Rolling Eyes
