Amazon.com is offering sellers an opportunity to earn up to $1,000 when they sign up for Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), the service where Amazon.com stores merchants' inventory in its own warehouses and packs and ships orders to their customers, whether the orders come from Amazon.com or any other channel.
With Amazon's FBA promotion, qualified merchants receive a one-time Merchant Shipping Rebate for the actual cost of their inbound shipments to an Amazon fulfillment center up to the amount earned. They will also receive a one-time Merchant Fee Rebate to apply to the actual cost of Fulfillment by Amazon fees incurred through the merchant's Amazon seller account between October 1, 2009, and December 31, 2009. Note that in addition to the fulfillment service provided, products available through FBA are eligible for Amazon's Super Saver Shipping and Amazon Prime, which give customers shipping discounts.

So let me get this straight...
They get an order, for something that they don't have, and they want any seller who has the item to ship it to their (amazon) buyer.
This in effect turns you into a dropshipper for them.
Might put the "spiders" out of business. |

So if you have a good selling hot and unique product with no/less competition Amazon will finally undercut you and start selling them directly.
Samething happened to small sellers who used checkout by Amazon whether they use the data gathered to undercut the small seller and started selling the product directly. |
