I'm not sure if this is a UK thing only, or if it's just something they are testing, because I can't find "deal Finder" anywhere. I even went to the UK site and didn't find it.
All I ever see is the "Daily Deals" - which are always free shipping - and I've even bought a few. Sometimes they are good deals - mostly those from buy.com (which usually offers the same deals on their website - plus many more than on ebay).
Some of the best deals I've gotten were on video games (a few bucks less than Amazon) - and I got a whole season of Entourage for $10 (free shipping - no one on the internet could touch that). I also got a year of xbox live for $30 ($20 off - best I've seen on Amazon was $35).
They also have these "mystery deals" which are sometimes quite good too. Yesterday's deal was for a new Panasonic DMP-BD65 Blu-Ray player for $109 shipped free. Great price for a fully networked bluray player with streaming video (netflix, amazon, etc). Amazon's best price on this was $123 (shipped free), and the average price is more like $150.
As a buyer, I like the daily deals - and as a seller, I like anything that consistently brings buyers to the site. That's what I pay for. It really is a lot like a mall in the sense that every "sale" and store that brings traffic ultimately benefits every store. In one sense they are competition, but if you aren't competing with price/quality/selection then it really won't matter where you sell. |
