Thank you to everyone who has joined PowerSellersUnite (PSU)
PSU was “born” when eBay implemented rate increases that significantly impacted sellers large & small. The fee hikes affect buyers also, as most sellers have no choice but to pass on the eBay fees to buyers. Our focus has now shifted away from the eBay boycott in early 2005 to helping sellers, and buyers, find the best alternative auction site(s) for their needs.

PSU is a fast- growing group of online members – seasoned and new – with common goals. We enjoy a fun, fast-paced environment where all facets of e-Commerce are discussed and debated.
PSU offers site navigation tools, free auction tools, and multiple search options right from the home page!

Our discussions include web site design to best alternative auction sites. If your area of question/interest is not found, ask and you will receive!

Take a minute and join one of the fastest growing online e-Commerce communities!

If you have any news, information, or updates you want to share please contact us

Be sure to submit a link to your online store on our Users Storefronts so others can browse your store. If you do not have your own store yet we provide PSU Stores so you can have your very own e-commerce web site.

You do NOT need to be a PowerSeller to join this site. EVERYONE is welcome!

Doesn't ebay have more gall than ever. They care not an ounce for Sellers but now they want them to notify Congress and the Senate that we don't want to collect sales tax for every state. I do it for PA & MD and it's all electronic; no problem. They just don't want to lose business and act like they are doing the seller a favor looking out for us. that would be the first time.

As for the big picture- both parties are guilty of padding pockets- thank you. My broker just did paperwork for a non citizen couple in the country who claimed 40,000.00 in income for the year and got a tax rebate of 18,000.00 not including the 8,000.00 1st time home sale credit (incidentally they were at the mortgage brokers to buy and house and take advantage of that break as well.)
There's a reason you can't get citizenship in Norway- to avoid the feeding frenzy taxpaying pockets provide to be "fair to everyone". Don't reply if you shop at Walmart- you're also part of the problem.
One side pads the bankers/CEO set and the other pads the unions and special interest groups.
If you jack up tariffs on China they may want to cash in their chips and take the statue of liberty - Credit line? how bout I just keep more of my earned cash and reinvest it myself- seems to work better for me than feeding through Chase bank and letting them get rich on my interest-wealth isnt built in savings accounts- I quit them and verizon years ago- now verizon wants to tier the web access and pay per view it- what a joke! Wouldnt need health insurance if I could keep my "social programs" money - that would solve the soc sec dilemna and give me more money for charities I choose (it just cuts out the politicians)
My congressman has written a bill suggesting no property tax in lieu raising the rate of sales tax in PA like Texas did successfully - but the teachers unions wont have a teat to suck on. The recent billion dollar bill they passed through & handed the union isnt gonna last past christmas Im sure.

Division is inevitable

Ebay / Paypal have been taking a chunk of the PA Taxes we collect from every PA sale by taking a percentage of the posted amount. They should be taking a percentage of the sale total only- not shipping, not taxes. Part of the many reasons we left in April. Got to be illegal

Let the current tax credits to the rich and shameless die. Cut out corporate off-shore banking practices to avoid taxes cease. Increase tariffs on offshore products being sold in this country. Give a credit line to small business owners of 1 % over what Chase is currently giving to people having a savings account. Last time I looked it was .75%

Forget E-bay. Look at the larger picture.

Get in the face of your local Congressman and Senator and let's start there.

In other words, too much money is not going in the right direction.

Let the idiots like Tan Man Boehner know that

"The earlier version of this bill (last year?) I believe had a $250,000.00 exemption. In other words you had to have this or more to be subject to the rules. Anyone here grossing that? "

If you think they're going to stick to that limit...well...can't say what I was thinking. Before long we'll ALL be taxed cause once they get a foothold they won't stop!

I doubt Ebay will collect the tax for us. They don't do it with those of us who collect for our own state. I do think it would be thrown in our lap same as our state does to us. Send the forms and let you sweat filling them out. No skin off anyone's noses except ours. We will NOT be reimbursed for our time, of course! Think about that. Those of you who think its inevitable - of course it is - you've already given up! Sitting ducks!

Even though we don't like taxes a more fair way would be for the feds to charge a percentage... call it a federal sales tax. Then they could distribute it as they wish... or keep it all.... LOL

I do not think the legislation is talking about 50 state licenses. It maybe one federal License, but probably State you are living in.

By the way there already is a reciprocating Tax that many states share. I know the seven SE states; Fl, Ga, Ms, Al, SC, NC, Va, Tn have this in place. If you are licensed in one of these states you can legally charge sales tax to shipments to another one of these states. I am sure other connecting states have a similar law in place. I just know about the one described as I have and still do business over these borders.

Don't most sellers have their taxes included in the price?
So if each state is going to have a different rate of tax, how will you price your item? I know a lot of buyers will be outraged if they suddenly have a hidden charge on any items they buy. Especially if their cousin down the road in the next state got it cheaper.

And I think the cost of running the system for a site like ebay will outway any benefits from interest made. This really will cost them big time and the state will not take care of it, as what happens to overseas sales that come into the state. It would not be possible for them to demand monies from out of the country other than through the venue. So I think they will definitely want ebay to deal with it.

But I agree it should be interesting to watch.

I can't envision sellers having to have 50+ Sales Tax paying accounts. Heck, the states themselves would be swamped!

Although I doubt that ebay would voluntarily take responsibility for any payment of taxes. but, being that they're a "venue" (albeit a venue that acts like an owner, with all their rules & regulations), whichever Government agency - or agencies that would be administering this would force them to take responsibility for reporting sales.

This will be interesting to see how it pans out

I agree-this will never take hold. Trying to account for pennies in sales tax...is it really worth the time Question

Oh, eBay will try to fall back on their 'just a venue' claim...however I think they shot themselves in the foot by interfering in transactions (my bad; assist in settling disputes between parties) and now they will be held responsible for tax issues. ::crocodile tears::

If eBay does not make sure taxes are paid, then every audit that takes place would probably involve eBay within the Audit. This is why they will take over the taxes if the law passes. eBay can collect these taxes and bank the money and make money off it, while they will only have to pay quarterly. It seems me that this is right down there alley. The fact that they are contacting sellers tells me that there will be enormous changed to e-commerce.

How about Paypal having to pay taxes on there transaction fees, and all that will encomber.
